What do you do with your hair when cold weather necessitates wearing a hat? I've been wearing a hat everytime i go outside in this cold and my hair is flat as a board, sticking up and going in directions that it's naturally not capable of. I'm just curious. I'm not really the "hair-doing" type and if you know me, you know i'm not very concerned with style.
Just thinking i might be doing my hair in the bathroom at work if i had to wear a hat every day.

Yep, my hair is both flat and all over the place. How is this possible?

Do not remove hat. It must be a part of your outfit all day.

Honey, mine looks the same as yours. When I take the hat off, I look like I stuck my finger in a light socket.

electric hair - even without hat these days.

Oh, I have the answer for you! We have to do this every day in these temps. You have to spray the inside of your hat right before you put it on with Static Guard. Or spray your hair brush with it, too. We buy cases ;-) of the stuff and have cans of it in every closet, every dresser, and there's one in every person's desk drawer at work.

I just skip the hat. And freeze!

There is no true fix - rubbing a fabric softener sheet on your hairbrush can help, but once you actually put a hat on - buh-bye hairdo.
A hood placed gently can be okay, but most of us skip the hat and do a scarf or get dropped off by the door.................or tease it to Jesus and spray it like it's the 80s.

Ya'll are so funny.SWGB
Why does the gay guy always have to come in with the solution? Play an unscented dryer sheet in the top of the hat, it'll stay there and if not use a safety pin or two.

That's why we love y'all so much!

That helps with the static, but not the flat hair.

Cold and dry weather makes it much worse smart arse!SoWal Insider
wow.
This might have been misunderstood, but my intent was certainly not to be offensive.
We all do what we have to do for electric hair........your system works for you, seems strange to me probably because I don't live where we have 6-8 mos. of weather like that. But, there isn't any right or wrong.

no, do not shave your head. ignore that man above this post.
scooty is right. If I wear a hat - it stays on. but hats bother me so I don't wear one unless its really necessary. otherwise - no hat. just a scarf and maybe a loose hood.
I do LOVE the look of hats though. I would love to be a hat wearer. and I wouldn't worry too much about flat flying hair. the hat itself bothers my head when wearing one.

I wear an anti static hoodie scarf, I love it.

I agree that hat should be part of the outfit. So get a COOL hat!!
One thing I learned from my hairdresser is to NOT wash hair each time you would normally wash it - just use a conditioner. It will still clean it but not leave you with that fly away mess that one has to deal with in cold dry air. So I do that - I don't wash my hair daily anyway so the next time I am due to wash it I just use my fav Aveda conditioner in shower - and some on the legs too. WORKS!
Would love to see some of your hats!!

We wear hats daily in this kind of weather. All kinds of stylish ones with matching scarves. But my tried & true one is my black wool & velvet hat.

I can honestly say that I have been blessed with hair that is NEVER flat. So occasionally I have to put on a hat just to hold my hair down.

beats on hood
Thank God I don't live in a part of the country where hats, scarves, and gloves are more than a fashion statement, as is true here in The South. That being said, if daughter and fiance decide to go to MIT for grad school as they are leaning towards, I'll just do what I did when she was there as an undergrad -- Land's End down coat with hood, scarf to cover my face, really warm gloves, and Gorsuch animal-print snow boots. No bad hair from the hood. And you don't wash your hair every day in that weather. Actually it looks the best three days after washing.
SWGB
You should wash it eventually.
