Scariest Poll, Ever!

This poll, well...it is just scary to me. I've been a big believer in common ground, bipartisanship, and all the other kumbaya stuff...but this poll makes me fear I've been a bit of a Pollyanna -- so I'd love to hear some of the conservative voices chime in. Does this strike you as true?

Daily Kos: State of the Nation

Ultimately, these results explain why it is impossible for elected Republicans to work with Democrats to improve our country. Their base are conspiracy mongers who don't believe Obama was born in the United States, that he is the second coming of Lenin, and that he is racist against white people. They already want to impeach him despite the glaringly obvious lack of high crimes or misdemeanors.

Well, I'm not a conservative, but since they know I voted for him I hear a lot.

Impeaching him, thinking he wasn't actually born in the US, that Palin is qualified, and he is a communist are totally off base in Scooterbugland (where they hang republican national convention ornaments on the Xmas tree BTW), but concerns about health care, the budget, civility in discourse, and many other items are sadly spot on to a varying degree.

Overall though, this poll is insane - I severely question WHO they polled to get these results. It is so ridonkulous that I think it is fake or propaganda.

A couple of years ago you could have changed the specifics and the name to Bush and it would have been just as one sided and untrue as this.

I don't buy it. I think the media and the internet feed this division, I think most everyone, in America today wants the same thing.

They probably do not agree on how to achieve these same goals, but what they want is very similiar.

Should public school students be taught that the book of Genesis in the Bible explains how God created the world?
Yes 77
No 15
Not Sure 8

So at least we know who Kos was targetting when he did the poll. The rest of the answers make perfect sense in this context.

I would agree, but what some want is NOT similar at all. ask the email senders in my inbox.

Skeptic Sniff at Daily Kos Poll

Skeptics Sniff at Daily Kos Poll | The Atlantic Wire

By Jake Simpson on February 04, 2010 11:16am
If you believe the liberal Daily Kos's recent poll of "self-identified Republicans", the conservative base is off its collective rocker. The poll produced some shockers--that 63 percent of respondents think President Obama is a socialist, for example, and that 39 percent think he should be impeached. This confirmed what many liberal bloggers suspected, with Daily Kos editor Markos Moulitsas crowing, "these results explain why it is impossible for elected Republicans to work with Democrats to improve our country."

Tootsie I guess that varies with the territory. I consider myself an Independent, I do not vote along party lines. I vote for the person. However I have friends that are devout Republicans and devout Democrats, and when you dig away the retoric, they want the same things. I am sorry you get these horrible emails. My friends know better than to send me crap and they are the only ones with my email address.

I do get emails from Mrs. Obama and I do enjoy them greatly.

Right now most everyone I know wants the economy to turn around.

It does bother me that there is little respect for the President, as I feel he is due that. But so was Bush. However I doubt you will find many democrats willing to be that gracious.

Sometimes I feel like that many Republicans feel Bush was so badly thrashed they have to thrash back now.

Sad thing is big business runs the US now, very little the President can accomplish regardless of how hard he tries and I feel he is really trying.

I am sure you can find Republicans that support this poll and just as many that don't.

The poll scares me less than the comments passed by the author of the Blog. How can there be any partisanship when a simple poll yields such vitriol?

Why is it the corporations are always the ones taking a bashing when it is the trial lawyers and unions who are worse when it comes to influence peddling. A survey by the Center for Responsive Politics found that while corp. gave more money to politcians they gave in almost equal amounts to reps and dems (51/49). No for-profit co. is going to intentionaly offend a significant segment of their customers and create the jobs in this country. The unions on the other hand gave about 1/2 as much but 92% to dems and 8% to reps. and don't care about offending anyone since they contribute so little to society and certainly don't create anything of value. They tear down by their actions - just look at what they did to the car companies, steel, etc..

I have one person (from sowal) who sends me emails regularly regarding Obama and politics in general...other than this person, I receive no mail regarding the man. Based upon the ludicracy of the subject line, I usually hit the delete button.

Polls can deliver differing results. I would imagine some people feel strongly against Obama....just as is the case with any President. This poll was obviously slanted.

For goodness sakes Punzy! You don't believe this tripe has any basis in fact, do you? This person polls 2,000 people and claims it represents all Republicans? Talk about skewed percentages. :bang:

There are hateful people, paranoid people, misinformed and narrow-minded people everywhere and it seems like this Kos found them all and given them the label "Republican." I'm not buying it and I doubt anyone who has even half a brain isn't either. His kind of polls are bad for Republicans and Democrats both because it has no other aim than to drive a wedge firmly between the two. Kos is no friend to either party.

I put myself firmly in the Libertarian camp as I have views on both sides of the fence. Given that and the results that I'm seeing, it looks like they probably conducted this poll deep in the bowels of backwoods Appalachia. It's almost laughable...

I am a registered Republican but independently minded. The Republican Party has left supporters such as me in the lurch. That is why the Tea Party movement is so popular. Those with like light thoughts are rejected by the Rush Limbaugh's and leadership, to a great degree, of the Republican Party.
Polls, such as this one, are a fraud on the general populace. The Daily Kos is nothing but a far left internet site operated by a disgruntled former neer do well now solidly in favor with a small segment of the population. As usual, the opinions expressed by either the far left or the far right have little to do with what the average working American, who is pretty much middle of the road in political philosophy, wants, desires and seeks.
This fiscal Conservative had really hoped Barak Obama would bring a useful change to our executive branch of government. In my mind, so far it isn't happening.

One thing I find interesting is that many of these ideas have been touted by Rush, Beck and other conservative voices and now they are upset about the fact that a group of people have bought it hook, line and sinker.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of people in any party are not educated when it comes to government.

This same polling group, Research 2000, had the Brown - Coakley race tied at 48% - 48% one day before the election

This guy is just a gnatty poll-monger- his purpose?

Some media does not even deserve notice other than to expose it for the sham that it is.

The American people are not stupid. We may have our differences of opinion, but I noticed during the 911 incident, the truth came out- united we stand when our nation is attacked! We may not stand side by side on every issue, but our basic desire is to live happily and free in our great nation, and when put to the test, we stand united.

I don't even get the purpose of this poll. It certainly didn't generate a positive movement in our community. Just like everything else that has no significance- in the trash bin it goes. :D:wave: I always like to know more about the people being polled, if there were actual people polled. People say all kinds of things, it doesn't necessarily make it true.

When all else is shaken, the truth eventually stands.

Kos commissioned the poll, but it was conducted by an established pollster. 2000 people is not a terrible sample size -- although I do think all polls are being skewed by fewer and fewer people using/answering their home phones. Also, I expressed some disbelief. I thought it would be interesting to hear Republicans views on the accuracy of the poll results...specific issues, not just blowing off the poll.

I always thought it was maybe 20% of the Republicans that bought the fringe craziness...but this poll seems to indicate the fiscal libertarians are the minority under the Big Tent these days. Interesting, and I hope it's way wrong.

I thought everyone was expressing their opinion on the "accuracy" of the poll results. :idontno:

There are many specific issues that would be interesting to discuss, yes, but in the context of a trash poll like this, no. Did you read the comments that preceded each question? Snide remarks. How can their be any understanding of the opposing position when the opening line is an insult? This Kos person doesn't have interest in seeing a common ground. I think he needs to have listened to our good president's speech on incivility.

You're absolutely right, Kos doesn't have interest in the common ground. I think he's part of the 20% fringe on the left that believes in pushing progressive ideas through and damn the consequences. Unfortunately, I didn't see the poll posted anywhere else.

We're just ahead of the times. Thanks to the Supreme Court trial lawyers and labor unions can take a back seat since they'll never have the money corporations are about to dump into the campaigning process.

i voted for gw twice. looking back at his record in a calm, detached manner, any reasonable person would have to conclude he was below average. obama has been thrown under the bus.

Impeach, no. And the whole Gay thing, no. I am a conservative Independent (formerly Republican), and have a lot of gay friends. I do, however, think Obama is Solcialist in ivery sense of the word. Puttting money in the government's hands does not create wealth...only welfare.

And as far as KOS goes...Moulitsas Zuniga is a former young republican gone liberal. Almost in the same mold as that lunatic pastor-"The Reverend Wright". They use their military service as a"shock" feature. Like its supposed to give their policies creedence because they somehow see both sides. He aquires almost all of his data from liberals. Even some conservative Dems stay away from this site. Not a real good place to pick up advice or even use as a reference.
