The best politicians that money can buy...

I knew that the MPAA and the RIAA had made a sizable investment in Joe Biden and I was upset, but not surprised when their lawyers got important spots in the DOJ, but I didn't realize that they had similarly purchased the services of his boss...

From the article entitled "Obama Sides with RIAA, MPAA; Backs ACTA":

And thus, our true colours reveal. Since Obama was the young newcomer, technically savvy, many of us were hoping that he might support patent and/or copyright reform. In case our story earlier on this subject didn't already tip you off, this certainly will: Obama has sided squarely with the RIAA/MPAA lobby, and backs ACTA. No copyright and/or patent reform for you, American citizens!

We desperately need copyright and patent reform. Not going to get it. We expected more transparent government processes. Not so for ACTA (ActaWatch.) Its all pretty much business as usual for All politicians in DC. The only thing that sets this administration apart is how much more money they charge for their services.

May I respectfully make a suggestion, not only for you but for all? When making a post, on the first mention of an agency or group (MPAA) spell out the name of the organization. Not everyone may be familiar with what the letters stand for. Just a suggestion, not a criticism.

You side with them?

You think that these agreements which do away with due process, provide no method of appeal, supercede sovereignty should be negotiated in secret and voted on in secret? All because the Motion Picture and Recording industries don't want to change their business models to keep up with the realities of technology. Warrantless searches, 3 strikes (accusations, not convictions, no burden of proof is required) and you get a lifetime ban from the internet?

You side with them?

Aren't most things like this negotiated and voted on in closed sessions? :idontno:

I think many people are unfairly losing out on music, film, and other royalties just because people don't want to pay a nominal fee for use.

I don't have a problem with us working with our allies and other countries for law enforcement purposes.

And under our CURRENT laws your electronics can already be searched for a variety of reasons - and it's even been upheld by the courts on appeal, so I guess I am not understanding what the issue is.

This is going to turn into big brother at it's finest. Remember when this was considered a big joke?
