A major bill that people didn't want got passed by arrogant congressman that didn't represent their constituents. That pretty much sums it up.

It's another entitlement program that will end is fiscal disaster. If you think this wont raise the deficit you're foolish. I'm tired of being lied to.

Welcome All to the United Socialist State of America. Sends us your illegals, your criminals, your terrorists and along with the Millions of Sponges in our Country they'll receive a free home,lawyer,trial,police/fire,education,unemployment,social security, medical care and 15 mins of FAME.
For all Non-Sponges please continue to do the right thing, keep working hard so as to keep providing for those who won't. Remember 140 new Agencies and 16K IRS agents will be sure that You will!

I wanted it, I am an American, I work and have for years voted Republican. I have been disappointed and elated by what our Representatives in the Executive Branch and Legislative Branch have done in the past and will be in the future. Obviously, you don't like the Reform, I respect that, but if some of the 212 legislators who voted against this bill had stepped forward with their idea maybe a better Healthcare Bill would have been on the table.

Friend, If you believe that the 212 could have brought anything forth that would have been accepted by Pelosi and Reid and Obama I have some land in the Glades I need to sell you.
If you believe this is not going to raise taxes on the middle class and is not going to raise the debt you also must believe in the tooth fairy and santa. All the proof I need is continued in two words: Social Security.

Sorry Idlewind, Charlie has already bought that, oh wait, it is mine, because I PAID FOR THAT TOO. Well someone did get an ageement that actually made it more palatable to millions of Americans, reference the abortion issue. Are you saying the Tooth Fairy and Santa ain't real. Which since I was a child, my elders told me Social Security would not be around when I'm 50, guess what, still here. I have never said that my taxes were not going to be affected, I am middle class and just like when folks have had to tighten our belts because of the economy, I suppose I will have to tighten it again.

Do you really think that IF the repubs had been in charge that there would have been ANYTHING associated with healthcare reform brought to the table? Show me in history where they actually did bring anything to the table in relationship to healthcare that actually helped the lower class....

Actually, when you look back over the entire debate, and all the different proposals that were put forth and blocked, all the time dems wasted on this legislation, all the damage it did to their brand, and when you consider the majority in congress liberals had, I have to give the republicans credit. They didn't stop the final Senate bill (by just one vote and one special election two weeks too late!) they still managed to kill off 90% of what progressives really wanted. Given the circumstances that's a win for reps in my book.

The Senate bill has some rather ugly special deals in it, all of which provide valuable political capital while in the grand scheme of things nothing surprising or seriously detrimental. Reconciliation is not assured of passing because it includes rather large tax increases, expansions of subsidies, and kills off various cost control measures. The fight over the final legislation is not over.

The other thing to consider is that the debate now changes from "we need reform" to, "we must fix what the democrats broke". Democrats are now on the defensive for their changes. Much of the Senate bill is so toxic politically, very little of it will take effect until 4-6 years from now. There's plenty of time to fix what's broken in the current bill and leverage what's broken for political capital. What's important now is reps must frame the debate, and keep their political momentum going into the next election. There are also a whole slew of issues to press forward, including a constitutional threat to the mandate. The battle isn't over, it's just getting started.

The opposition is due to the fact that it wasn't conceived by fat old angry white men. Their idea of health care is free Viagra, trips to the Dominican, and all the Oxycontin you can swallow.

Actually it was written by an older "white" guy. I thought we put race behind us. Save your racist talk for your KKK and Black Panther Meetings. This is a non-racial board.

New CNN Poll: 59% Oppose Obamacare | The Foundry: Conservative Policy News.

That must be a lot of fat angry old white men. The proverbial racial attacks are so 20th Century get with the times.

The notion that all those opposed to Obamacare are fat angry old white men should make non-racist supporters cringe. Disagree until you're blue in the face... the majority of Americans of all races didn't want this passed. So much arrogance, it will be their undoing.

If the Supreme Court strikes this down not only will this not happen but those that voted for it will still get booted out. This is exactly what causes landslide elections.

Your racism charge won't work in this case and I don't ever want to be governed by polls. Many of these people knew it could cost them their jobs including the POTUS. Doing the right thing can sometimes be painful.

The poll doesn't define a breakdown by sex or race and therefore it isn't conclusive that "the majority of all races didn't want this passed".

In fact, the 1030 polled could actually have been fat angry old white men.

Also, you obviously didn't look very well at the poll. It was taken BEFORE the vote. Let's see what polls show now as well as a breakdown by race and gender....then we can talk.;-)

Why does anyone give a rat's patootie about polls numbers? They are no more scientific than much of the science many will say is fake or slanted. I have been wondering this for a while now. Why those who dis science will be the first to post a poll that is in no way controlled, or scientific. (AL wanders off, shaking head, runs into door....)

Hitler thought he was doing the right thing. You know what they say about good intentions.

Poll or vote I don't think it matters to some of you. If the majority of people voted against this bill you would still advocate congress to pass it. Right?

The fat angry old men will set things straight.

What is the relevance of the race of people in a crowd? I've heard this batted around by the left, never understood the signifigance. Generally I find it rather offensive.

how about pre-existing condition sponges, laid off at the mill sponges, returning vet with no job waiting sponges, wife with kids and father left sponges, 140 dollar tylenol bill from the hospital sponges. is it that black and white for you that you see no problem with a system which has priced itself out of the mass market?
