Anyone know why a deputy who is aparently working an off duty detail, would have his patrol vehicle backed up towards the Seaside Post Office, perpendicular to 30A and on the sidewalk?
Parking is not over crowded either...

He was backed in passed the sidewalk. I walked in front of the car on the sidewalk. I actually spoke with him for a few minutes... he was parked that way to be a visual deterrent to slow down the traffic through Seaside. It was working too...

But said cops would need something that connects to the 'net for that to be useful here. ;-)

We used to have deputies hanging out on campus.
Wha-wha-what? Sheriffs don't have laptops in their vehicles other than for the purpose of getting online to check on the status of the peeps being pulled over for whatever reason.
Yet they would hang out on campus to check personal emails and to visit whatever websites they wanted. Now we have a Cisco app that checks for identity so that no one can wardrive and use our wireless. Win.

they have laptops and do have internet in the cars in walton countyNot here in SoSoATL.
It's good that the taxes we pay Walton County allows law enforcement officers to use the Internet. That being said, the Internet access at our home in Walton County is both sporadic and flaky, yet we pay a boatload of money for connectivity. ARGH!

Yes they do, but last I knew they were using a Nextel (now Sprint) wireless card. Those things can be locked down to prevent personal use very easily.
