1. Are 3 Navy seals being courtmartialed for physical abuse of a terrorist killer?

2. State citizens being told they must purchase health insurance even though it appears to be in direct violation of the 9th and 10th Amendments of the Constitution?

3. Does the healthcare bill call for hiring 16,000 new IRS agents?

4. Is the Gulf coast and East coast opened to oil exploration but the West coast and parts of Alaska not?

5. Does a federal judge find the father of Lance Cpl. Snyder responsible for court costs incurred in a church groups protest at his son's military funeral?

There are many more "whys" going on in today's political spectrum and I am sure they apply to both left and right. I feel that many should not occur, regardless of partisan thoughts and actions. These five are presented as mine and I urge you to present yours along with cogent and thoughtful answers to such "whys". My interest is not in hearing quotes or articles from slanted sources but from hearing heart felt personal experiences and happenings. I am tired of readings from Glen Beck and Adriana Huffington. I want what is really happening to SoWallers and "why".

#5 is a total crock IMO! They should be paying HIM for being such horrid human beings that they protested at his son's military funeral!

Why are ALL Walton County residents south of the bay being counted for the census via door-to-door canvassing, even when you are in a house that was here in 2000? I fear serious undercountment (a word I just invented) and no change in our commission representation.

This one is amazing, and while we are on "whys", why has no one with a high powered rifle taken out this Phelps character as he is painting his signs one day?

Why has the government taken away the right to make student loans from private financial institutions?

They haven't, they just won't serve as the safety net for these private financial institutions anymore. The banks will actually have to do their own underwriting (GASP!).

This is a heavily tourist area and the same thing is being done in many other heavily tourist based areas. It's not an under count issue, it's an accuracy issue.

While I detest his speech, I'll defend his right to say it to the death.

Why has the government taken away the right to make student loans from private financial institutions?

You really want to get started on this?

My census guy said this had to do with foreclosures and rentals, they decided door to door was going to be needed anyway, so they skipped the mailer to save some money.

I asked the Census worker who came to my house and it is because they had a significant number of forms that were never returned because there is such a high number of Vacation Rental units and second homes. Makes sense and it should increase our count this year.

Now I know what is wrong with you and why you have the attitude you have. You are "unbalanced" and "unfair". You should try watching it sometime. Even with your vast experience and knowledge, you might learn even more.:D

From the Wall Street Journal...

The Obama administration plans to make the government the sole provider of federal student loans, ending the participation of private lenders in the program.

Under a plan unveiled in the administration's budget, subsidies to private lenders would be eliminated, and the government would use the savings estimated at $47.5 billion over the next decade to help bolster the Pell grant program for low-income students.

If approved by Congress, the plan would effectively end government-guaranteed loans to students by banks and other private lenders—lending that has totaled $56.7 billion in the current school year, and has been the primary source of college financial aid since the program was launched in the 1960s

Sorry Andy...I know you said no quotes, but I had to show that I was not incorrect...

I understand not wanting wasted mailings to go to everyone, but one would think sending them to registered voters, drivers license holders, and homesteaders would be a no-brainer. :idontno:

Why did the census spend money on a mailing telling everybody that they were going to get another mailing? wow...:confused:

SWGB,

What is it with you and FOX News? You say this all the time as if it discredits someones point of view. You could say that about Glenn Beck just as you could make the case about Keith Olbermann. One person doesn't discredit an entire News Channel.

Federal Student Loan Program. They can still make their own student loans, just not under this program. No more federal guarantees.

"Why" is number 3 even listed?

IRS Expansion | FactCheck.org
Q: Will the IRS hire 16,500 new agents to enforce the health care law?

A: No. The law requires the IRS mostly to hand out tax credits, not collect penalties. The claim of 16,500 new agents stems from a partisan analysis based on guesswork and false assumptions, and compounded by outright misrepresentation.

This figure originated with a report put out by Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee on March 18. It said:

GOP Analysis, March 18: IRS may need to hire as many as 16,500 additional auditors, agents and other employees.

Notice the words "may" and "as many as." This is the highest figure the GOP analysts thought they could support. Notice also the phrase "other employees," which covers everyone down to file clerks and support staff.

Sounds a lot like the democrats estimates on the cost of Obamacare. Heck, that pretty much sums up every estimate the federal government has come up with for pretty much every healthcare program they've implemented.

Nobody should be surprised if the expansion of government workers is larger than predicted, and nobody should be surprised if 250 billion annual cost of Obamacare is, hrm, underestimated.

Many of them are also trying to establish residency so they can claim a homestead exemption.

Speaking of debt, the Obama Administration is about to reach an interesting milestone -adding two trillion in debt held by the public since taking office. The annual interest on the new debt based on the average interest rates paid on public debt in Feb.: 51 billion. The total debt: 8.2 trillion, annual interest payments: 215 billion.
