This morning, their poll of the day is "Who should take the lead in fighting Gulf Oil Spill?"
FOXNews.com - Who Should Take the Lead in Fighting Gulf Oil Spill?
I listened to WWL all weekend, and even the angriest, most vitriolic talk show host in New Orleans now understands that, by law, as passed after Valdez incident, that BP has to take the lead, and why.
Instead of explaining this to their audience, Fox just fans the flames of discontent. I can't accept that they don't understand the issue, they just choose to dumb it down and make it controversial.

I watcted Obama's news conference on Fox yesterday, and the talking heads couldn't wait to talk about how this will affect him politically. Um, hello? It's not about him.

I don't watch TV news much, but you can substitute the name fox for thousands of other "infomedia conflict organizations" - paper, websites, tv . . .
If you don't like them, why post a link to them?

It's my job.
I didn't say it was stupid.

I was just making a commentary on the media coverage of the oil spill. The facts are few and far between, and I find myself relying on the Baton Rouge Advocate website, NOLA.com and WWL radio and TV.

Nothing like a Good Monday Morning family loving feud....You are right about the more coffee. I am a little sick of many knocking Fox News all the time. In many cases, they are the only network covering a real news story in any depth. If you are so dense and uninformed that you can't separate the wheat from the chaff, then use the remote and change channels. I have found their coverage of the oil spill to be very good but I realize that all have opinions and they differ, especially on this board.

Of course I did enjoy their coverage yesterday about the NY bomb attempt being claimed by a Pakistan Taliban group. BUT, failing to also state that this Tally group is notorious for taking credit for everything and usually ends up not being involved..... Great depth in that coverage eh?

note: To their credit, Foxy News did finally put out the disclaimer last pm, about 12 hours after their initial postings on these Tally lads....

hey H4G - not to worry - plenty of people totally agree with what you are saying about Fox News and its lack of credibility as a news outlet. and many people really prefer Fox.. at least you give Fox a watch. I won't even do that anymore. not even for entertainment. the entertainment value of such news gets old and starts getting quite scary and my skin starts crawling and well, I won't go into all the other yucky symptoms I experience, and the daydreaming nightmares I start having of our country under the influence of Rush Limbaughs and the likes.

Thanks for the dense and uninformed comment.
Here's my analogy:
You walk into a nice jewelry store which is lavishly furnished and has a motto something like "We have the finest jewelry in the world" and ask to see diamond rings.
The salesman brings out a tray of several rings. Two or three are lovely solitaires, two or three look to have cheaper metals, a couple look really cheap, and two are actually made of plastic and came out of a gumball machine.
You say to the salesman, "What are these plastic toys doing in with this real jewelry"? He replies, "We know that our customers are sophisticated buyers who can differentiate real quality. Those rings are real jewelry, you could certainly wear them if you wished". You say, "But they're not real diamonds!" He answers, "They certainly are - each stone is in the shape of a diamond. If they were square, we'd call them Square Rings".
Would you think that the rest of the rings in the tray were high quality? Would you think that the store was a little squirrelly?

OK that is just flat out funny!! :funn:disclaimer: my post has nothing to do with Fox or any of the stations.
Since I made the decision to forgo all of them I'm not equipped to discuss.

H4G, I re-read my post and to the best of my knowledge and comprehension, no where did I mention anyone in particular. However, analogy aside, if the shoe fits wear it, as the old saying goes. BTW, the analogy is cute, if totally brainless. Just my opinion, of course, and you are certainly entitled to yours.

Dense, uninformed and brainless, all in one day - all I have to add is arrogant, and I can run for office.

I actually saw some Fox news this weekend while channel surfing.
It was actually a positive experience - Suzanne Harris yapping away was what I needed to make me laugh and turn off the boob tube.

You were addressing H4G. But as usual, it is OK for you to knock somebody, but God forbid if anyone should even politely disagree with you or your opinions, since you usually cry "foul" well before anyone addresses you personally.
If being smart requires watching Fox, I will pass thank you very much. I have seen all I want to see of that group, and quite a few others. They scare me- truly. And I am scared for my kids that so many people take the bait- you forget that Fox makes money by getting people all whipped up into a frenzy, which changes by the day (nationalism? socialism? patriotism? communism?).

What Fox News does brilliantly is bring conservative talk radio dialogue into the mainstream.

Some of the smartest people I know don't watch TV at all. However, unfortunately I am addicted and watch news shows on several different networks. That way I figure any spin I pick up watching one will get cancelled by watching one with a different point of view. I agree with you that frenzies are not a good thing.

I'm a little taken aback that my original comment, which was that Fox's Question of the day was based on bad assumptions, old information or was perhaps just fear-mongering, has been taken so personally.
It's not like I criticized your child, your mother, your religion or your appearance, it's a cable channel. I can't understand why some people defend it to the death.

For you guys who put down Fox...please share what news shows you do watch as I would like to know. In the past theyse other news shows seemed so far up Obama's "LEFT" backside that it was hard to really believe that they could even believed in all that garbage that they were spewing...I also like a full story not just what the Exec. at the top of a news channel wants to push on the news that evening....so please inform me as to what channels you all watch... I also love to hear Obama mouth off about Fox...betcha he watches Fox ...as he always seems to be injecting them into his comments.

Telling a Fox lemming their network sucks is like telling someone their breath stinks.
