Congress is scheduled to vote this week on repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". In the House, Rep. Allen Boyd hasn't yet joined the 190 members of Congress who have said they'll vote to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

We need as many Florida residents as possible to speak out against "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" within the next 24 hours.

Your call today will help show Rep. Boyd that the residents of Florida recognize that it doesn't matter whether a soldier is lesbian, gay or straight. What matters is that a soldier gets the job done. Each one of us ? from service members, to veterans, to those who simply believe in equality ? needs to speak up now if we want to finally put an end to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and its discriminatory history once and for all. Thank you for being a part of this movement. Your call should take just 2 minutes ? here's how:

Thanks for reading and if you support the repeal, please do take a few minutes to call.

Now, I'm off to make my calls :D

It's always been interesting to me that despite some of the greatest military minds and armies being gay this crap still goes on.

Whenever one of my friends or family members tell me that they don't believe gays should serve then I say - ok, then is your son or daughter going to take their place? That shuts them up.

I know quite a few veterans that are gay - they proudly served but carefully hid their orientation until their service was over.

Which is what many do. What is sad is when they are "found out" and then kicked out. Or if they decide to openly state they are gay just to challenge the law and then are kicked out.

Time to get this repealed and people like Lt. Dan Choi back to work!

.
?It?s the first time I?m a civilian since I was 18-years-old,? said Mr. Choi. ?As much as you can prepare for this kind of consequence, I knew exactly what I was getting into when I appeared on your show the very first time. As much as you build up your armor and get ready for those words, saying, ?you?re fired,? you can?t deal with that pain and the emotion.?

Maddow: ?Do you feel regret??

?Absolutely not,? he said. ?Being in the closet is a poison. It?s a deadly toxic disease that people don?t realize how difficult that is until they?re finally out. There are a lot of times when I look back at my time in service and told myself, ?why didn?t I come out or why did I join.??
