The video is dead on but don't expect progressives to like it or admit it. The Constitution is as AndrewG said, "a timeless document". As Buz so aptly noted, our founders were foresightful enough to allow for changes to it without totally destroying its intent and function. That is why we have the Bill of Rights. The first ten amendments. It is amendable. It should not be destoyable.

So Andy do you agree with the tone of the video?

Personally, I saw nothing wrong with the video and thought it was rather a provocative, thoughtful and forceful presentation, whether you agreed with it or not. It does happen to be that I agree with it for the most part, but do not find it derogatory, only truthful. To me, the last 17 months, overall, have been a disaster unparalleled in my lifetime except for WWII.

Aside from the oil spill, exactly what has happened in the last 17 months to make you say that?

There have been some policies I do not agree with and things I want to change, but there are many things that rank above "Obama's term to date" on my disaster scale.

That's 3 minutes of my life I want back. I thought I was watching November 2012 instead. I already saw that movie.

There are a many things: to many to go into in detail but for starters finance reform bill excluding Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac;healthcare;auto industry takeover;cap and trade;scuttle of the shuttle;proposed takeover of private land;etc. I'm sure by now you get a picture of my concerns. I hope I am wrong in my assumption that this President, is only after one thing as an end result...pure unadulterated power, but almost everything he does, in the long run, lends itself toward that goal. As I said, hopefully I misread, but I have seen a lot of government in my time and except for FDR and Carter, this is by far the most disasterous path I have seen us amble down.

Geez, AndyA if this is disasterous where were you when we invaded Iraq?
and is this worse that the Vietnam war? and are all the things you listed worse than our men and women still being in Iraq and Afghanistan...people in this country going hungry and losing their jobs and homes?...perhaps you need to go take a walk on your beach....

Pure unadulterated power? Are you confusing Obama with Bush/Cheney? Please tell me what Obama has done to increase his power? I know that he is not using signing statements to override parts of legislation like Bush did and while you and I may disagree with some bills and policy decisions, the big ones have been compiled and voted on by the House and Senate, not just Obama.

I definitely agree that Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and healthcare are not where I would like them to be, but that is not keeping me awake at night like many other things do/have.

Takeover of the auto industry - Could have been done better, but it was Bush who initially bailed out Chrysler and GM, then Obama continued down the same road, and then imposed changes after they declared bankruptcy.

I like the shuttle, but it's a white elephant. Isn't unmanned vs. manned a smart budgetary and scientific choice for right now?

Cap and trade - I like the idea in principle, am sure there are some amendments and details I don't care for, but overall seems good.

Proposed takeover of private land? Don't know of this one. Is this a private beach issue?

I won't go into the invasion of Iraq. I have said in many posts it was a mistake. That said, all Presidents make mistakes just as all citizens do. I feel there is a distinct effort to take from a few to give to many. I have no problem with that when it is justified and accomplished in a charitable and legal way. From many of the proposals coming from the present government, and I say government, so that Congress is also included, I think that redistributio is exactly what is being attempted. Its called a "redistribution of wealth", 58, and I am against it. I'm sorry we don't agree as I have great respect for teachers but what they are teaching now and what they were teaching when I returned to college is part of the problem and not part of the solution. It is not what my wise, but uneducated father taught me which was far, far more useful and profound than anything I learned from my professors in college during a return after a successful military career.
As far as a walk on the beach, I am lucky enough to be able to do that. It does not change the fact, however, that I think that educated, intelligent but misdirected people such as you are wrong. Is my position on life and my place in it now clear enough for you, Goodwitch 58? I will never ever agree with your picture of life and that is my perogative as yours is to sustain what you think.
While all you have said about VietNam, Iraq, Afganistan and our economy is true, it has already happened. I am interested in making sure yours and mine don't repeat many of the mistakes of the past. I definitely see that developing in our present administration and to some degree, society.

I disagree with Andy, and I certainly take issue with the tone of the video (and content) but I do credit Andy for a civil post where he openly shared how he feels. Not always easy to do that - when you open yourself up.

But I still stand strongly against the video and again, would never have participated in promoting one with same tone about Bush. Rush - maybe ;-) But he ain't POTUS and I think that our President deserves better than that video.

Nice graphics and great music.

Otherwise....I find it funny that "they" claim to have voted in the Democrats....doubt it.

You could have changed a few dates and basically had the same video back in 2007 pointed to the Republicans and what was going to happen....

Thank you, G, for the civility. I am sure there were some about Bush just as bad and even worse, but it is passed and such research is trivial and unnecessary. Though I disagree with you about the video, I appreciate your posts and candor.

Oh gosh Andy I am certain there were horrible videos circulating about Bush. I think it is telling that I don't recall them - perhaps that is because I looked the other way when such came my way and refused to participate. I just don't like that tone no matter who is in office.
