Alfred E Newman

Wow. Talk about a blast from the past. I remember spending some time with Alfred.

I still have a bunch of mine from 71-76. This cover was my favorite. I used it in junior high to cover one of my schoolbooks.

I had an issue from that timeframe that had a great drawing of a home made airliner that used Electrolux canister vacuums for the engines.

I loved that picture for reasons I can't explain.

I don't remember that. If I had it I'd scan it. I loved Don Martin cartoons and Movie Satires which are at the opposite ends of the spectrum, but my favorite was Al Jafee. He was the sickest. He still contributes at age 89.

What, me worry?

Mad shaped much of my early personality.

Mad Magazine, Monty Python and Saturday Night Live back when it had the Blues Brothers running things.

Its pretty interesting to step thru the covers. They remind you of exactly what was happening in society at the time.

Remember how crappy American cars and TVs were in 1972

Or inflation in 1971 (when we had price freezes and rebates had come into existence)
