Racial Profiling

Ever looked at Walton County Sheriff's Bookings website and wondered how they tend to just happen to arrest so many Latinos that just happen to be driving without a valid driver's license? Assuming that the prospective offenders haven't committed some other violation (and most are only listed as DWOVDL), then what is their criteria to stop such an inordinate number of Latinos unless simply because they are Latinos?....and, for the record, no, I'm not a Latino...just a thinker. And here I sit, just wondering....

I know that we (WHITE folks) are sensitive to the Latino situation these days (though, for the life of me, I can't justify why) but, if you were stopped for whatever reason, just because you were a redneck/Richy Rich/black/WASP/out-of-towner/out-of-country PFB, etc., wouldn't you feel put upon?

Just wondering.....:idontno:

I agree to a point. But only to a point.

The difference between is, what is the Latino community doing to stop illegal immigration? If I was getting pulled over for being, a White Redneck, then I would do everything in my power to change the idea of a White Redneck. We don't see that coming from the Latino Community.

Once I do, then I will change my thoughts on the matter.

I haven't heard anything about unwarranted stops or targeting a certain group, but it makes sense that there are a lot of arrests for that as it's the first thing they check for any accidents or traffic stop.

The last cop who pulled ME over said the Florida Highway Patrol loves to write $$ tickets for people who don't have their proof of current registration.

Mine was just an observation from looking at the bookings over time. there doesn't ever seem to be any other charges besides driving without a valid license.

I've seen similar charges for locals, but it usually is in conjunction with DUI, accident, or a known repeat offender (whose vehicle I'm sure the WCSO recognize).

Like I said, it was just an observation.....funny that we all started out as "illegals". Good thing that the native Americans didn't kick us out!
