My F-I-L was a cheerleader for our grade school football team. With pom poms and saddle shoes. Of course back then he wasn't my F-I-L.

My Cousin Dave married my Cousin Jennifer and produced my darling double Cousin Addison-sounds a little dueling banjos I know! He's my first cousin on dad's side, she's my third cousin on mom's side (and one of my closest girlfriends). He has a hissy when I tell this story, it's kinda my way of getting even for my cousin marrying my friend (gross!)-she just laughs and laughs!

We have a couple at the NH that have the same birthday, same year. :shock: Their son has a slight "Deliverance" edge to him. :shock: In fact, he's just downright scary.

I thought I'd throw ya'll some more crazy family stuff:

My favorite aunt on mom's side was calls the noise from thunder and lightening "thunderbumpin". Instead of Bloody Hell, she says"Billy Hale" as in her grandson gave her Billy Hale for not saving all of the ice cream for him! One Sunday after family lunch at my grandmother's house, the family was sitting around chatting and she says "I'm taking generic Prozac, can you tell" and the entire family fell out laughing after about a 5 second silence. She also has only worn a bra about 3 times since she graduated high school in 1973!

There's more but those are just a few highlights!

My wonderful Grandma, Italian of course, married my Papa John when she was sweet 16. She was a devout churchgoing Catholic all of her life, they were hard working farmers... Grandma was one of those who lived to serve others and gave all she had to make sure everyone had what they needed when they needed it. She was such a great lady and family matriarch. and she cussed like a pucking sailer. she left no word out of her colorful vocabulary - but never for hurting anyone. except Papa John who she constantly threatened to hang by his nutchies. oh, and she could cook like crazy. She gave us a fantastic childhood and frequently took us grandkids to Mardi Gras. She thought the strip joints were absolutely hilarious as we kids sat on Papa John's shoulders peering in to see what we could see. Oh, and her favorite thing to do, besides going to church (she owned the back row) was gamble... casinos and football. She once won $1000 on a Bama game when were at the Sugar Bowl in Nola... that cab driver got the tip of his life after the game...

I LOVE her!!!!!!:wub::wub::wub::wub:
she was a trip. I should have added: she never drank, except maybe a sip of wine or champagne at very special occasions. she was already high on life, and hers was very, very full. some tough times. multiple families on one big farm. she quit driving after a very little car wreck (when she was fairly young), so we were all her drivers for years! she was a smart one... I would love to have people just waiting in line to drive me everywhere.

My family keeps naming babies with other family member's names and it is getting ridiculous.

It was okay when it started - Grandma Scooterbug and my cousin had the same first name. My middle name is my mother's maiden name and Scooterbro's middle name is Grandma Scooterbug's maiden name.

Grandpa Scooterbug, Papa Scooterbug, and Scooterbro had the same first and last name but Scooterbro went by a nickname and Grandpa and Papa used both their first and middle name.

Then my cousins (sisters) had babies within 6 months of each other and gave them that same first name and made their middle names their grandfather's names. So now you say a male name at any family gathering and you can mean up to 5 of the people present.

And the one baby's middle name that isn't also its grandfather's name (it was a great great uncle's name) is rather unfortunate - as it was also the name of my grandparents insane golden retriever known for it's proclivity to eat poop (and anything else it could find), hump its bed or guests, try to kill the grandchildren by knocking them off cliffs, and break its teeth playing with rocks. :roll:
