Danielle, Earl, and Fiona are looking like they will miss Florida and the Gulf of Mexico, but Invest 98 models don't look as pretty.

Haven't read any chatter about it yet.

I like that NOGAPS computer model -- it has Invest 98 doing a 180 and hitting Liberia or the Ivory Coast or whatever country that is... That's what happens when computer geeks/heavy drinkers become tropical cyclone forecasters.

I'm surprised you haven't heard about the old curse for enslavement. Every hurricane has the same path as a slave ship. Some ships had to turn back for one reason or another.

If this were true, wouldn't there be a hurricane following me from my house to Ace Hardware, back to my house, over to the sprinkler system, back to my office, over to the post office, back to my office, over to a meeting in Ft. Walton, back to my office....

I do hate it when they come in underneath Cuba. Gaston is the name of this one.

Alobar Greywalker: Magickal Record (aka Frater PVN, LA-BAJ-AL) - TS Gaston Headed to Cuba

GASTON UPDATE-Headed for Gulf?

TS Gaston Headed to Cuba

Looks like Tropical Storm Gaston is headed to Cuba, then into the Gulf. Gaston is expected to be a Category 2 Hurricane in 5 days. No idea if we will be in danger. If it does come this way, looks to be to be ~2 weeks away, but may pickup speed.

"...Assuming Gaston can fight off the dry air--which seems likely, given the low shear--the storm should be able to intensify into a hurricane by Sunday, as predicted by the many of the intensity models. Gaston appears likely to threaten the Lesser Antilles Islands as early as Tuesday. Historically, 25% of all tropical cyclones at Gaston's current position have gone on to hit the U.S. East Coast." There is another disturbance off of Africa that is also being monitored. Yikes!
