No kidding. The department charged with keeping kids safe is a very dangerous department. Another State racket IMO.

And Jeb!'s attempts to privatize a lot of DCF functions just made it worse- increased the bureaucracy while decreasing the actual oversight that makes sure kids are getting appropriate placements and services. IIRC, one of the DCF contractors got themselves in trouble a while back for using totally inappropriate drugs as treatment as a first option when it came to dealing with unruly kids in their care.

Ridiculous that people have been so against this - completely ignoring the fact that those kids were available for adoption because their hetero parents and traditional family had failed them.

They've consistently lost track of foster kids over the years, the department was pretty good until the privatization started.

They said on the news today that the ruling only applies to the third district, but DCF has been instructed to no longer ask or note orientation when it does whatever home study has to be done. Maybe they will get this mess straightened out soon. I have some friends that are dying to adopt their foster child but these stupid rules are preventing it, and they are great parents.
