What a funn night at Grayton! Smilin' Joe, Kurt, Tootsie, Sueshore, and Lee John...a grazing supper on the beach at sunset, followed by fleeing the advance of a thunderstorm. Went back up to Conch Out and listened to the badly needed rain drumming on the tin roofs while we watched the light show from the deck. I like these people soooo much!
Lots of stuff going on down here. I can see changes coming, some maybe not so good but others that will be beneficial. Today I heard about a giant conveyor belt that is assisting with beach restoration at WaterColor...am going to check this out to see if the tool might be applicable to wine caves excavation. Also getting the scoop on the real estate market from several folks in-the-know and there is more good news than otherwise. Yes, there are fewer buyers and a lot of inventory. But the best is yet to come for those who can be patient and hang in there OR who are looking for an opportunity to get into the market at less than astronomical prices.
As for the beaches, I have never seen them look better and the color of the water is so blue/green azure that it makes one's teeth hurt. We are having our French doors painted exactly that color.
Also found out that there about five fairly well known haunted houses around our area, with some great stories reported by the housekeepers.
Captain Anderson's is still lovely and you can get a combo plate of grouper filets with oysters or scallops by asking (not on the menu). The D&K is still cranking away and I hear that the same owners are coming back, just in a different garb. I will give you an update on the Busy Bee Cafe in DeFuniak after I go on Thursday. Looking forward to seeing some of you on the beach or at the Grayton Homeowners' meeting on Saturday.

OMG. Nannifunn is the new black. She's such a freakin' rock star. She is the nanny for the lead in the Ring of Fire show. When Nannifunn comes out, she does it right. We are quite the team...I must say. We've had a couple incidents, but we always make it out in one piece. Something tells me Nannifunn is not leaving NYC. :clap_1: We used to be Thursday night warriors...now we do it on the weekends.
Nannifunn gets around! Wishing I was in NYC for the weekend. Kimmi would have to be our host and drive us around town - do you drive in NYC???

I've driven here once when we were heading up to Cape Cod and went the wrong way down a one way street. Total nightmare. It's not as bad as driving in Atlanta though! But on the weekends, I walk everywhere. Living downtown makes that possible. Everyone wants to spend the weekends downtown.
Talk Kirkifunn into bringing y'all up for the 4th. I can get you amazing tickets to the fireworks! Pleeeeaaaasssseeee!

Did some research on the headless murder today, talking with the oldtimers. One of my mom's lady friends has a house near the place they found the body. She claims that her daughter was fishing on the pier early in the morning on the day the body was supposedly dumped in the woods. It was a barmaid from someplace down here on the beaches. We were discussing this story today while lunching at The Busy Bee Cafe in DeFuniak. Other diners leaning in to eavesdrop, like that old E.F. Hutton commercial. The ladies are in their late 80s, talk loud due to some hearing loss, and you should have seen those Bubbas' mouths drop open! Gawd...it was worth the trip into town! :floor:
