XM VS Sirius: any subscribers on the board?
JohnR is an XM pusher, he'll have some input. I used XM for a while and don't know anything about Sirius, sorry.

can't give you any real info on sirius, except howard, blah blah. they also have the only jam band channel now, since xm dropped theirs. if you heat to www.xmradio.com you can see their new line up and press release regarding the changes. i can say that xm makes the smallest radio available, and all you need to do is put the magnetic antenna on the roof, plug in the power to the lighter jack, modulate to a station that's empty, and you're good. chek out the roady xt at xm.

I have Sirius because XM doesn't cover SEC sports. Unfortunately, it means we can't get GT sports because ACC is on XM.

Favorite channels (other than whatever channel the Gators are on):
50 - Hot Jamz
40 - Hip-Hop Nation
132 - CNN
45 - Shade 45
153 - Atlanta Traffic and Weather

Mr. New Yorker is really into this (he's an IT guy by profession--so he loves these kinds of "toys"). We have XM in both cars, and at home. I like all the available stations--its really nice when I've had long drives. (I will miss LUNA--I love Latin Jazz). The country stations all sound alike, alas--and they don't play the women artists to the degree I'd like. Jazz is nice, and I like CNN at night.

we have both - mr audie is a radio junkie. i like xm- 80's channel all the time. they play better songs than sirius' 80's channel, and not just hit songs.

i don't know that the junkie really has a favorite. we definitely do NOT listen to howard stern. he makes me gag.

I have XM, but will probably switch to Siruis next time around. My brother has Siruis, and the music seemed a little more varied than XM, although I am not quite sure how much you can vary the comparable channels. The baseball on XM is nice, but I think I could drop it for SEC and NFL on Sirius. I find myself only listening to the baseball during weekdays anyway.

The main reason I want to switch is Radio Margaritaville. What a great radio station. If you want to try it you can listen online at radiomargaritaville.com.

Rock on.

That's the one thing I hate about my XM. I have been an XM subscriber since 2004. I like:

30 - Fresh Hits
47 - Ethel, new wave alternative
227 - Atlanta Traffic and Weather
247 - 24 hour emergency alert station, which gives all severe weather alerts
124 - The Weather Channel
20 - Top 20
66 - Urban hip hop

Yes, having SEC sports is major for us. But I wish Sirius had the Weather Channel.

I used to listen to CNN a lot, but I'm so sick of hearing Lou Dobbs say, "Why do American workers have to work longer and harder than Europeans? Why does it take two incomes for American families just to get by? It's time we focused on our middle class. It's what we all deserve." Then Paula Zahn says, "The question is, just how prepared are we?" If they're gonna ask these questions, when are they gonna blanking answer them?

I wouldn't mind having the Food Network on Sirius, but it'd probably be difficult without visuals.

Sirius,

I purchased it for my wife for Christmas, she loves it. We are huge Jimmy Buffett and he is on Sirius, they also have the SEC football games so I can listen to other teams.

I bought her a boom box to go along with the car attachment, we brought it down to the beach back in June and it was great.

I will say this though, XM has better reception as far as being in a building. The lady next to her has XM and has no problem, and she has the small antenna and gets very good reception. I had to put my wifes out side and on top of the building to get a reception ( Grant you this is a metal building). At home we have no problem inside.
