For anyone who is a fan of Ronald Reagan or who supports tax cuts as an answer to our nation's current economic problems-
I respectfully request that you please watch this video.
It is not a pure opinion piece. It presents an argument based on economic data.
Please don't comment on the thread unless you have watched the video. The thread is about the content of the video.
Thanks.

So you are a welfare recipient. Now I know why you love Pelosi and Obama sooo much.Anyone that does not want to work and wants a handout is the reason this country is in a mess.I also believe anyone receiving any form of welfare or government assistance should be drug tested randomly and if failed, all benefits are revoked permanently.
Would that include Social Security recipients, Medicare recipients, and big business who recieve government assistance?

Including those with tax shelters and CEO's of corporations that pay no tax?

Some of the big banks and automakers are on government welfare, that's for sure.
GM looks to have finally stopped slacking off and found itself a job. I get the sense though that they're a chronic problem child, they'll be back in a decade for more help after they run their wells dry (again).

People receiving social security worked and paid into the system and earned their benefits.I am against big business receiving government assistance with tax payer dollars.Capitalism allows you to be successful or fail,it should not be up to the government to choose which ones do either.

But you were paying more in interest under Carter and the inflation rate was out of sight. Ya'll can bash Reagan all you like, the proof is in the pudding and his success is history, not speculation.
There you go again...making stuff up.
Prime Rate History
Rates were higher under Reagan than Carter.
Of course, I did not have to look it up.
As a neophyte small businessman I remember.
Now that I don't owe any money rates are low...:idontno:

There you go again- misinterpreting the data.
Rate when Carter took office: 6.25%
Rate when Carter left office/Reagan took office: 15.25%
percentage increase under Carter: 144%
Rate when Reagan took office: 15.25%
Rate when Reagan left office: 10.50%
Percentage decrease under Reagan: 31%
I lived it as well and I remember the pain of the Carter years and how things improved under Reagan.

If what Reagan did stoked our economy, created jobs and inspired Americans then I say we do it again now. We're in a major hole here and I would like prosperity over austerity.

The mistake made during the Reagan years was that spending was not cut, which produced deficits. The cold war was the reason for alot of the spending, so the results may have been worth the cost. This time we need to remedy the weakness in strategy and cut spending as well.

So... the Cold War has been over for several decades. I guess you would have thought defense spending would have gone down. Ha, ha ,ha. "The mistake made in the Bush years was that spending was not cut." Is there an echo in here?
