Role reversal on legalizing pot?

Its not unusual for Joe Biden and Pat Robertson to be on opposite sides of an issue, but it is (at least to me) interesting to see Biden firmly against legalizing pot and Robertson firmly for it.

This short ABC story "Biden on Pat Robertson?s Push to Legalize Pot: It?s ?A Mistake?" reveals that:

Biden's POV:

?I still believe it's a gateway drug. I've spent a lot of my life as chairman of the Judiciary Committee dealing with this. I think it would be a mistake to legalize,?

Robertson's POV:

Robertson said sending people to jail for a few ounces of pot is ?costing us a fortune and it?s ruining young people.?

"We're locking up people that have taken a couple puffs of marijuana and next thing you know they've got 10 years with mandatory sentences," Robertson said.

I don't think it is the positioning that people would typically expect out of these two.

I wonder who's funding those opinions?
