PolitiFact | PolitiFact Florida's new 'Scott-O-Meter' to track campaign promises

Nice summary of what he plans to try and accomplish, and includes a new "Scott-O-Meter" to track his progress.

With the current political makeup of the legislature, I'd say he's got a pretty good chance of getting a lot of this done. I expect a radical departure from the lazy, status quo days of the Crist administration.

No status quo for Rick Scott | HeraldTribune.com

Backlash over the last two years of democrat rule in Washington? That seems pretty obvious.

He had the money to maker and constantly air some really effective commercials. Most Floridians seem not to bother to do much other research about elections these days.

Wait. Calling public service unions (not union members) scoundrels is over the line, but a picture of someone throwing a Bible in a trash can with a "Save the Planet" slogan is fair game?

Also, the agnostics and athiests can save the sanctimony and self-righteousness for the don't ask don't tell thread. I'm just commenting on the self-policing trend here.

Would you complain if was the Koran? Actually is represents all formal religions not just the Bible and is meant to provoke thought on the question "would the world be better off without religions?"

Don't ask don't tell goes beyond religion, its repeal is the right thing to do in a truly free society.

I wouldn't have to complain because it wouldn't be up here, or if it were it would be posted by some dimwit to incite (see Jones, Terry), which it would. I'm also not going to believe that a book with a cross on it represents all religions. To believe such is either asinine or offensive, depending on how you interpret the cartoon.

There's a reason you don't get a lot of intelligent, conservative counterpoint on this website. Reread my comment, I said it's silly that insulting public service unions is considered over the line but throwing the Bible in the trash is considered intelligent commentary. That's the self-policing of sowal.com, affected with its own anosognsia.

I agree on DADT, but I thought the ironic lack of self-awareness displayed by the agnostics and atheists on that thread as they took a moral high ground to condemn the "religious" was entertaining.

intelligent, conservative counterpoint
Could be this is a myth.:sarc:

book with a cross on it represents all religions
It was the best one to use since it is the most recognized religious symbol in our "Christian" nation.

Find where I have ever condemned religion and I will apologize. Your problem is your desire to be offended is overwhelming.

Where did I say I was offended? Again, you've ignored my point altogether.

I didn't see agnostics or atheists condeming religion. I saw folks asking questions like- is it possible for society to be civilized without religion. And agnostics, atheists and others responding that morals can be taught without organized religion. I miss any irony or lack of self awareness.

:idontno:

But I agree with you that the tangent in that thread was entertaining.

P.S. Why didn't you chime in there instead of here?

I think the whole bloody thread, except the first two posts, crossed the line. I was just playing along with the rest of the children.

This, like many other things, is not a clear cut as it might have appeared in the campaign. Rick Scott: Gov. Rick Scott's grounding of state planes may be tricky proposition - OrlandoSentinel.com
"They can drive or fly," Scott said.

The new governor won't have to worry about those logistical problems. The millionaire former health-care executive owns his own Raytheon Beechjet 400 jet and plans to use it to travel.

Scott said Friday he would pay all its costs himself for the full four years of his term. But unlike the public planes, whose trips are public record, Scott said he wouldn't release detailed flight itineraries so the media or public can find out where he's been.

"I've never done it. I don't believe in it," he said.

What about government in the sunshine laws? How can the people of Florida hold the "volunteer" governor accountable? If he will not account for where he is flying on state business; or identify who is with him and whether or not they are conducting state business in the plane...the questions go on and on. While he was elected by the people; he is not being paid by the people; and he is using his own means to travel (I assume he pays for his non-air travel too); and appears to feel as though he has no responsibility to account for what he does in his plane because he owns it....?????

Lets hope he takes everything he learned from that and uses it against the public service unions. ;-) One con-artist pitted against another.. the devious scoundrel vs. the other! The fight will be epic! I am looking forward to it!

The same PSU that may save your arse some day.....

I'm sure that when you have a crime against you, a home fire or a trauma/medical incident you will decline their service since they are "scoundrels".....:sarc:

I don't have a problem with him not accounting to the media where he is going/where he will be in his plane, but I do want who he is meeting with and who is accompanying him to be public knowledge.

Definite can o' worms.

I don't care where he is going either if he's on his own time but, if he is on state business, I believe it is appropriate for a whole bunch of reasons to file a flight plan; and leave an intinerary with media availability noted.
