Every day it seems I run across articles which just amaze me. I stop short of posting most of these as I fear it would dilute the message because frankly, these seem to be everywhere.
From the Dutch forcing, aka confiscating, pension funds to sell their gold
Here Comes Executive Order 6102 For The QE Generation: Dutch Central Bank Orders Pension Fund To Sell Its Gold | zero hedge
..to silver being in backwardation (zero contango) for the next 4 years! This has never happened. Backwardation means the current spot price is higher than the future price in forward trading contracts. This means that investors of all sizes feel there is a chance that physical silver may not exist in those forward months and would rather take delivery now instead of buying cheaper for a promise to redeem later.

And lastly, this isn't news but is a wonderful video of the Cheviot Sound Money Conference held in London two weeks ago on precious metals, their place in history and their importance today. Some of the speakers are a bit dry, but there is a WEALTH of information from all the presenters. It's probably 8 hours long in total but broken down into chapters/speakers with some great Q&A after each one. Well worth your time IMO.

edit: Well, here's one more which was just released. IMF released a report today discussing replacement of the dollar as the world's reserve currency. More talk of SDRs, which will be the international settlement currency to further 'diversify the system.' Mo' paper, mo paper, mo paper!

(Did you know JPMorgan handles the funding of the food stamp debit card system? And did you know if you call the help line you will be routed to an India call center? I kid you not. Our welfare customer service has been offshored. You can't make this stuff up!)

Silver currently @ 34.16 (gold 1408) GSR 42:1
Last recommended buy 1/25 @ 26.80
This is getting scary. I'm not ready for $40 silver but it's coming, just like the Comex numbers told us it would. I'm thinking ~$37 before a pull back. Will watch patiently and hope for another buying opp around $31?
Contracts expire this week so we'll see who's standing for delivery and who isn't. Current contracts are roughly 53k. EACH contract for silver is for 5,000oz. 5,000 x $34 = $170,000 x 53k = $9B
But anything over 8k contracts standing for delivery by end of this week could give a commercial signal failure in Comex vaults. We usually lose quite a few contracts in futures expiration as some traders will roll forward or take a cash premium to close their contracts.
This game has been played for years and decades. Hard to imagine a paradigm shift of this magnitude, but if default happens you see it's implications everywhere.
Prediction: $60+ by Dec 2011 and $120+ silver by Dec 2012

Harvey Organ's latest:
"Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen:
Gold closed in London (12 noon est) at $1408.50 a rise of $20.30. Silver exploded northbound with a rise
of $1.70 to finish at London closing price of $34.00 flat. There was a sense of panic on the shorts to cover as there were only buyers present and no sellers. It is getting closer and closer to a systemic commercial failure. The comex was closed today so all the fun with begin starting late tonight. I will be giving you open interests on the silver contracts and how many will be standing. Wednesday night the official March contract goes off the board. Also all option-holders with in the money silver that wish to take delivery of metal must exercise his option and then wait for a delivery of a March future contract and then stand for delivery. The March contract continues to trade as the stragglers must decide whether to roll their contracts or stand for delivery. On the 28th of February at precisely 1:30 pm, we get to see how many open interest will eventually stand. We also see the total number of notices filed to be sent down for servicing. Deliveries may begin on March 1.2011 and continue throughout the month. If we have greater number of oz than exist anywhere then a commercial failure is upon us. In that scenario, expect cash settlements and a run on the banks and the comex to fail. There has never been a failure in silver and gold. The closest we have been to a silver default was the Hunt brothers in 1980 but the bankers were bailed out by the Government. The USA had 2 billion oz of above ground silver then. Today they have none!!"
