Knight and Day good
Vanilla Sky bad

I love the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz combo in Knight and Day. I watched it twice as soon as I rented it. I love adventure, comedy, and romance with movie theatrics. It was a kicker

Vanilla Sky was a bad acid trip from the 60's. The triple star cast of Cruise, Cruz, and Diaz was a waste.

Yeah that one was a head scratcher when it came out. But not as bad as Cruise's Eyes Wide Shut.

Just watched an old Denzel Washington/Jennifer Beale flick that was really good:

Devil in a Blue Dress

Really good Australian comedy: Strictly Ballroom
Really bad Austrailian comedy: Young Einstein

Both, though, had awesome soundtracks!

Yes! Strictly Ballroom is one of my all-time favorites--I used to work at Resort Video in Seagrove years ago, and it was a FPF (frequently played film) in the store...

Jim and I crack up when we see the "minions" in the Dispicable Me trailers on TV, so we rented the movie. I loved it, it would be even better to watch it with kids.

If anyone's got an interest in more Australian film, I'll add The Dish (funny and sweet story about the radar tracking station for the first moon landing- it's way better than that sounds) and The Castle (family that lives near an airport runway slated for expansion) to the list.

Despicable Me is definitely a good one. We actually saw it at the theater - twice. and several times at home since.

Gulliver's Travels (at theaters now, Jack Black) - its a pretty good one for kids and family. not necessarily worthy of theater trip, but still good.

oh, I want to see Knight and Day!

I actually liked Vanilla Sky - in a weird kind of strange kind of screwed up way.

Aussie film recommend - Priscilla Queen of the Desert. The opposite of Mad Max.

Much better than "To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar".
Not saying it was bad, but Priscilla was way better...

Hugo Weaving as Tick/Mitzi and then as agent Smith in The Matrix and Elrond in LOTR - now that's some acting.

oldie but goodie

I caught "Moonstruck" (again) the other day on TV. This is really clever and funny film. Cher is good in this one. Even Nick Cage is good. Anybody seen Burlesque?

I love that movie!

I caught "Coalminer's Daughter" (1980) last weekend - haven't seen this one in several years. one of my faves. Sissy Spacek (Loretta Lynn), Tommy Lee Jones (Doo), Beverly D'Angelo (Patsy Cline). I am no country music fan, but I love Patsy Cline and I love the story of the Coalminer's Daughter.

Ditto! I watch CmD nearly every time I spot that it's airing!

Similarly:
"What's Love Got to Do With It" (Tina Turner)
"Ray" (Ray Charles)
"All that Jazz" (Bob Fosse)

Watched The Social Network last night. Really good. Didn't see what all the fuss was about for The Kids are Allright.
