Bath Salt Abuse?

Officials fear bath salts are growing drug problem - USATODAY.com FULTON, Miss. (AP) ? When Neil Brown got high on bath salts, he took his skinning knife and slit his face and stomach repeatedly. Brown survived, but authorities say others haven't been so lucky after snorting, injecting or smoking powders with such innocuous-sounding names as Ivory Snow, Red Dove and Vanilla Sky.

Some say the effects of the powders are as powerful as abusing methamphetamine. Increasingly, law enforcement agents and poison control centers say the bath salts with complex chemical names are an emerging menace in several U.S. states where authorities talk of banning their sale.

I saw a story on the PC station, WJHG. Officials worry that this might become an issue during spring break.

Bay County Asking State For Help With Bath Salts

No, they are slicing themselves open because for some odd reason, snorting and smoking bath salts causes nasty side effects.

hallucinations/ suicide attempts.

I don't want to partake of anything that will make me want to cut myself or worse, kill myself. I like myself. Really worried about kids trying this and not being aware of the side effects though. :(

As dumb and dangerous as this is, it's not as dumb and dangerous as texting while driving, and the victim is most likely to hurt only him or herself.

That was "Spice"
Ice is crack version of crystal meth and has been around a long time. Fortunately, it never became an epidemic like crack.

What I want to know is what possessed somebody to "do" bath salts. What the heck?

I presume that they were never really produced as bath salts, but only sold as such for legal purposes. Rather as bath salts nudge, nudge, ;-),;-). Not unlike certain human service people who fall under the title of escort, entertainer, private dancer. Like why would I pay $500/hr for an entertainer when I've got Netflix, and for that matter SoWal?

Bath Salts

I saw something on TV last night about this. When they snort this stuff they do not know what they are doing. That's the crazy part to. Why smoke or snort something when you cannot even feel the effects. It was very scary watching what it did to these kids.

What ever happen to kids drinking beer and smoking pot? I am so glad I didn't grow up in this day and age. The 80's were bad enough with the clothes and the poof bangs. And like another poster wrote, these were never really bath salts, they are synthetic replicas of meth.

Douglas my son, please tell me that this isn't some sort of sales pitch and you're trying to drum up business. 😱 I know you have a way with the ladies, but please don't tell me you're some sort of.... Never mind. No, I was being purely hypothetical. As long as Netflix and SoWal exist, I have no need to partake in such earthly persuits. I will concede however that Dad and I like to watch.

Once I get out of this teeny condo into a real house with a ginornous bathtub, I plan to abuse some bath salts, big time. Just sayin'. . . ;-)
