There's more info if you click evening buzz on the brief article.
There have been 2 official citings of a police car and a fire truck literally running over people in the middle of the protests.

Right now with the internet and cell phones cut off, along with international media banned, it's a scary time for those fighting for freedom and human rights in Egypt.
Mubarak is accusing the media of insurgency blaming them for the uprising; whereas, it is his old dictator ass that initiated the mass communication cut off, and it is his thug regime that the people of Egypt want gone.

From Secretary Clinton's blog - an update on Egyptian unrest and US media bias.
"An interesting partial interview with MJ Rosenberg of Media Matters talking about the US double standard regarding how democracy is viewed in the Arab world vs. Europe.
YouTube - Egyptian unrest and US media bias
As if to prove MJ Rosenberg?s point, the NYT ran a story yesterday focusing on what the turmoil in Egypt means for the U.S. and Israel. And while it would be silly to pretend there aren?t ramifications, there is a danger in sending the wrong message to the Egyptian people- we want to make sure that the protests continue to be about their legitimate economic and democratic interests and NOT make it about U.S. and Israel?s needs/wants. Obviously the U.S. will be discussing such things behind closed doors, but now would be a good time to let the Egyptian people know we are unconditionally on their side and that we respect their desire to choose their own leaders for their own reasons. ......."
Egyptian unrest and US media bias *updated* ?
.
Good point to bring up Rita,
The communication of truth is vital in promoting peace for those who seek peace. The roadblock to peace is lies due to selfish ambition- one's gain at the expense of others. A good agreement is when everyone involved benefits and the condition of mankind is uplifted.
It is true that the Egyptians want their voices to be heard and are tired of tyranny and oppression. I believe the people of Egypt with a clear conscience see that we want to help, those with an agenda will forever make up lies to justify their dark deeds.
It is in the best interests of the U.S. to make decisions with integrity, with human rights being at the forefront. Any decisions based on political or economic gain at the expense of humanity will always come back around and bite us in the A$$ 😱

Looks like all that praying paid off!
Anderson Cooper named a grand marshal of 2011 Endymion Mardi Gras parade | NOLA.com
I hope he has a great time. Serious question-Does anyone think Walter Cronkite would do this sort of thing? Apples and oranges? I don't know...

That's what I like about you guys- you bring up things I don't know or that I forget about. I read that he was asked to be the grand marshall, but it was about the same time I discovered he was leaving Egypt, so I forgot about it til now, thanks.
Walter, a grand marshal?
I don't know
He always seemed so dignified and serious
Maybe
It's definitely a new day in journalism...
Yea...praying ALWAYS pays off 😀
I don't determine the answers

You mean go in for the whole celebrity gran-poo-bah scene?
Somehow I just don't see it. I think Cronkrite & E.R. Murrough would find celebrity styled association with mardi-pardi ratings float-ation ploys to be ridiculous, demeaning, and detrimental to their credibility as serious news people. Then again, back in their day, competition consisted of, what, 3 channels / 2-3 x per day?
Anderson Cooper seems like the rare, earnest news guy that really tries harder than his cohorts to find/report facts. It's an unnecessary shame for him to allow himself to be pushed towards being a ... Kevin Federline .

Thank goodness. In my opinion, all journalists should get the heck out of there due to the negative attitude toward foreign journalists in Egypt. It's just not worth risking ones life for his/her job..
This morning I watched "This Week" with Christiane Amanpour hosting it from Egypt ....... so she's still there.
She's another I trust.
This round table discussion with journalists from Egypt, BBC, NYT, ABC ..... is excellent imo:

She is one that I will listen to also, although A.C. is my favorite. It's interesting what the different journalists bring to the table- I like the mix.
Some of the posts on assorted internet articles I have read are annoying when people make judgments of what journalists should or should not have done on the front lines. I almost wish I could send them a simulated hologram with the identical situations to see what the outcome would have been for them... bit of steam... time for tea 😀 When someone uses their power to bully(verbally, etc.) it subverts that power to cowardice. Sorry, I hope you don't think I'm talking about you, just thinking about this entire situation. I'm still not sure that I am communicating on the net clearly sometimes having posted several cannonballs. It's so different than actually speaking to someone face to face. I'm working at it though.
Thanks for posting the video:wave:

IMO, Beauty Hunter, you are communicating just fine. I enjoy your posts.
I, too, admire Anderson Cooper. Have you read his books? He has been doing dangerous things in order to get the news story for a long time...I think his work is a true calling for him; he certainly didn't need the money or the fame.

Thank you Glenda for your constant voice of reason and encouragement- you are truly a rose without thorns.
Everytime I speak with one of you guys on here, ya'll get me thinking about something.
The dichotomy of speaking one's mind strongly and really considering what others say is in itself a human art form if someone truly cares about people. One cannot always say what people want to hear for fear of reprisal cause that is not truth, but one cannot be a self-contained bully pulpit either, or only those that cannot think for themselves will support them. Communication is challenging and intriguing.😀
blah blah blah blah I talk too much
I have not read Anderson's books and actually never took notice of him until I was following the BP oil spill and discovered that he really seemed to care about the situation. He not only spoke strongly, but actually listened to opposing viewpoints. I was captured at that point, plus he's a cutie. I've seen physically ugly men who because of their character were beautiful, and therefore attractive; and I've seen physically stunning men that turned out to be fool's gold because of who they really were.
Life is a mystery and FUN 😀
I love adventure
XOXO

There are also photos of the uprising in Egypt on this website. I was intrigued with the way they worshipped in the streets, if this happened in America there would be protests against it. On the other hand, I am so not intrigued with suicide bombers which I have heard are religious zealots?- shorten to s.b., add American slang, and that pretty well sums it up.
All worship should lead to the betterment of mankind, if it doesn't, someone is worshipping the wrong god.
I think it's in 1 John somewhere that God says, How can we say we love God whom we can't see, when we don't love those that we can see. 😱 oops
that's when you want to pick up the word forgiveness and dust it off a little :lol:
or run away like the gingerbread man
