The thing is, I don't know what to eat for breakfast. When my cholesterol level went up this fall, my doctor asked me what I was eating. When I told him I was eating Cheerios with 1% milk and fruit for breakfast, he told me that was too many carbs. But what is the alternative? Eggs have too much cholesterol, and I can only eat EggBeaters for about two days before I feel like I'm gonna throw up.:idontno:

Doc told me to have no more than two teaspoons of fat a day. Wha-wha-what? Last night I broke down and we had angel hair pasta with low-fat sour cream, goat cheese, and basil. And a salad. I know that is probably wrong. But I am so confused about what is bad or good.

I mean, having grilled chicken and veggies or black beans and brown rice just doesn't do it for me as my permanent menu.

I have re-read the letter from the doc (he did his residency at Mayo in Rochester, so he sends me Mayo handouts), and I am still confused. Time for an appointment.

I alternate cheerios with skim milk, oatmeal with skim milk sweetnlow and cinnamon or a 150 calorie Atkins peanut butter crisp bar most days-sometimes I'll have an apple for bfast. Lunch of brown rice and lean meat with veggie or protein shakes or soup and brown rice. Dinner of 8 oz potato or rice with lean meat and veggies or high fiber pasta with homemade sauce with lean meat. Along with 1.5 hours of cardio/day brought my cholesterol down 50 pts in 6 months-no meds; I got a smiley face on my bloodwork that trip.

This was in my mailbox this morning. http://jonnybowdenblog.com/a-reversal-on-carbs/

Here's my recipe for homemade cereal. Couple of tablespoons flaxseed meal, couple of tablespoons hempseed, couple of Tablespoons chai seeds, sometimes some nuts on top sometimes some berries. Wet it with almond milk or Ocheesee cream on occasion.
Yesterday for breakfast I had some bacon cooked with kale. Sometimes you have to think out of the cereal box for breakfast if you have a problem with eggs. I have a food intolerance to them so should only eat them every 4 days.
I have no fear of fat if it's the right kind. My opinion of the right fat is omega 3's, olive and fat from grass feed beef and pastured pork and chicken, almost forgot extra virgin organic coconut oil.
My idea of fast food is a roasted publix chicken, just wish they would do the plain more often.
