I don't know what if the above mentioned Conservative talk show hosts are required to belong to a union or not but have you ever heard of a "closed shop". I couldn't work in a steel mill in my youth unless I was a union member. It is one of the things the Governor of Wisconsin is seeking. You don't have to join the union to obtain a job. Its called "right to work" and is, IMO, justified. But I am sure you know all this already. It certainly is no secret.

Just another round of liberal gotcha. Fix it where you cannot work in the industry without being a union member and then slam those who have taken the steps necessary to work.

Getting a job in Hollywood essentially requires a membership to SAG, but membership isn't mandatory. Another example of the 'gotcha.'

If true why the secrecy with Hannity, Limbaugh and O'Reilly. :idontno:Just come out and say I am a member, it won't stop you from opposing membership.

I am fairly confident I have heard O'Reilly speak about being a member of a union and I think I have heard Beck say the same things. Can't remember about Hannity and I do not listen to Limbaugh. Still, what is the problem? You have to belong to work.

I'm almost certain that some years ago Limbaugh was joking about it on air and made mention that the union 'tough guy' was in the studio observing things.

Pay to play cuts both ways. Democrats will bash big pharma and oil companies all day long but have no problems accepting campaign cash from them.

I used to be a member of the union that oversees UPS workers. That was one of the weirdest jobs I've every had. We had these mandatory, set time breaks during the work day and all sorts of strange rules and regs regarding interaction with management. Overall the job had this weird vibe to it, it felt like you were part of a machine vs. being a human being. I'd bet the unions negotiate this stuff on purpose to help alienate workers from management.

It's not a secret. Hannity was talking about being a member just last week.

Here's the gotcha...

There's a huge difference between having to belong to a union and wanting to belong to a union. My father in law is a retired Delta pilot. He had to belong to the pilot's union. Had no choice. He thought it sucked and didn't support them at all because most of the rank and file thought that the leadership had ulterior motives as many do. Despite that he was a card carrying dues paying member because he had no choice.

I know Hannity falls into that category because he flat said so. I'm sure the others feel the same way...

Since I can proudly say I don't listen to Hannity I stand corrected, it's not a secret.
Now instead of commenting on Wisconsin union members where he is not a member he could bemoan his own union and reveal why he feels he doesn't need them or why he feels they don't represent the best interest of the members or management. He could devote an entire show to the inner workings of this anti-American group he claims he has been forced to join.

Apparently you have no idea how they do TV. There are no performers marching in Times Square so whatever is going on with that union is not news. The activities in Wisconsin are big news so they are covering it. It is pure BS to expect commentators to only comment on things they are involved in instead of what people care about. Maybe operating in this manner is the reason no one watches liberals on TV.😀

My only experience with a union was when I worked at Bell South. The union was optional and had no bearing on your employment.

As to required membership, this is an archaic thing left over from the very beginning of unions. One of the main reasons was that unions served the same purpose as a state licensing bureau via training, continuing ed, and verification of knowledge.

I don't agree with required membership, but the rights 100% no union mentality will be the first death nail in the middle class coffin. Do away with unions and the right will move on to minimum wage, OSHA, etc.

In other words Hannity could get real. No, he simply can't work it into the programming schedule. he's too busy reporting important news about Wisconsin that his viewers can't get from anywhere else.:sarc:

No, what you are stating is pure BS. Conservatives are railing against unions, all unions and how they are responsible for the ills of industry in this country. They speak of how unions increase the cost of goods and affect the price of our exports putting us at a disadvantage in the global economy. Let Hannity and the rest expose the damage their own union is doing to our country. You're right I don't know TV but could it be there is no story because they like their union since maybe it only sets a minimum wage scale for the lowest paid workers and mimimum appearance fees but leaves them the freedom to bargain wages and benefits without limits. There are many liberals with a wide audience on TV but their viewers appreciate the more straight forward delivery and less of the National Enquirer type format of current events.

I don't see how the performer's union is damaging the country or rhat industry. But are you honestly saying that the demands of the auto workers union or the steel workers union have not negatively impacted those industries and in fact injurred the workers those unions claim to represent?

Here is just one. It has been posted previously but maybe you didn't read it.
My hometown is Pueblo, Colorado. The major industry there for years was steel. The demands of the steelworker's union eventually caused CF&I to say, enough and they closed the mill. The union workers I talked to while home on leave after this happened, to a man, stated the demands made by the union hierarchy were not necessary or wanted by them. Of course you could say you would expect them to say that because at the time they said it, they were out of a job.

Must have been the unions and not companies moving jobs over seas for cheaper labor than even a non-union environment could provide.

First of all, you stated in another post you were going to ignore me so please keep your word. Second, yes I read it but I was mainly referencing the statement that unions have "injured" their workers, I would strongly argue unions have made the workplace safer for all workers.
