What would you stand for?

Here are some of my random thoughts from my own "stand for" list:

I am for children, well paid and respected teachers, honor and respect for elders, compassion for everyone, good behavior, manners, laughter, home grown food, positive reinforcement, critical thinking, emerald green waters, sugary white sand, pine trees swaying in the wind...adopting and rescuing animals...mountain hikes, inspiring music, and snow on Christmas Eve...

I am for...

  • Meditation at the any SoWal beach at sunrise
  • Meditation at any SoWal beach at sunset
  • An icy cold beer on a hot sunny day at any SoWal beach
  • A lawnchair sitting in the waves at any SoWal beach with an ice cold beer listening to Opera
  • Enjoying time with genuine friends sitting in chairs in the surf at any SoWal beach with icy cold beers on a sunny day
  • Sailing - anytime, anywhere

Maybe I should clarify: We are in a world in which we have civil war in Libya, nuclear catastophe in Japan, and Ann Coulter is still allowed to talk on television. In my estimation, kittens have absolutely no other function in life except to look cute and cuddly. They are not capable of cooking my dinner, or bringing me another cold beer, or even locating my remote control. Maybe I'm missing the point of this thread, but I can only take so much "world peace" (and kittens) until I just want to crank Metallica up to ELEVEN. So there!

In my estimation, kittens have absolutely no other funtion in life except to look cute and cuddly. They are not capable of cooking my dinner, or bringing me another cold beer, or even locating my remote control. I'm for considering the lilies of the field. For me, anyway, and anyone else who finds value in that. A great surprise for me this spring -- three beautiful little patches of some sort of bulb blooming with tiny white bell shaped flowers. I don't know what they are but they're blooming at the same time as daffodils and I have decided I"m calling them my lilies of the field.

Are they lily-of-the-valley? I've never seen that around here!
