Try this one, I was told today by Representative Matt Gatez and Senator Don Gatez that the house bill on retirement charging 3% of a Government employees wages who are in the Florida Retirement System won't be going to the Florida Retirement system as Representative Coley believes, but will be placed into the general revnue fund to offset the deficit. This is essentially a tax on a single group of taxpayers, Government employees. Isn't that fair.:lol:

33The Tea Party is not an organized political group like the Democrats and Republicans. It is a widely deversifyed group of citizens who believe in smaller government, less spending, state's rights and the Constitution being followed. I am a member and like Idlewind, I do not agree with what you are complaining about. A tax on one particular group that doesn't directly go to that group is wrong. That said, it is fine for you to pay dues to your union if you so wish. It is not fine for those who do not wish to do so to be forced to do so. Everyone should be entitled to apply for a job and work if they are the most qualified for a job. Its called "right to work" and I am a strong proponent for it. A closed shop is unfair and should have been outlawed long ago once unions served their major purpose which was to make sure workers received a fair shake. Now it is the stock holders that deserve that fair shake, and whether you want to admit it or not, your union leaders make far more in wages than you do and do very little to earn them except create trouble for all. Trumpka is a perfect example, IMO.
Florida is a Right to Work State, no one is forced to join a UNION and we even have some that chose not to where I work. They pay no dues but reap all the benefits except representation unless it affect the the Unions interest. They have a right to vote on the contract that is negotiated. Now when I was a kid back in Missouri, there was a Statewide vote. The vote was to determine whether the State was going to be a Right To Work State or a Closed Shop State. I don't know what the outcome of the vote was, but I would venture it was what the will of those who voted wanted it to be. Oh in spite of all that, my membership at my employment is over 90% Union. The Florida Professional Firefighters represent over 20,000 Firefighter, Paramedics, EMT's and Dispatchers.
When I agree with them. So you are not for balanced, responsible government budgets? Spending government funds on proper government expenditures? Lowing taxes so our people can purchase goods and services and jobs can be created? If so, please explain what you would cut. Or are you only protecting your piece of teh pie and to h*** with the country and our children and grandchildren?
It seems we have lowered taxes at the federal level for years for corporations and the rich and we keep sending jobs oversea. Before you blame Unions according the numbers I have seen, Union membership is about 12%. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/union2.nr0.htm

Just to be straight, I don't blame unions anymore than I blame corporations, individuals and other organizations for our problems. And I blame politicians more than any of them. I also blame myself for not doing more to stop this stuff. We have all ate at the public trough and have all contributed to the problems we face. I really don't worry as much about whose fault things are as much as I look at who is trying to fix things and who is being obstructionists.
As to one of your other posts:
"You are 100% correct, the Tea Party is not pushing the agenda, again I am sorry my opinion has upset you. I will endeavor to send you my post personally for your review. I beg you to forgive my independent thought and allow me to be more like you, Andy and 30a so I don't offend you all. Really, it upsets me to no end that I have offended you because we disagree on your veiws."
Come off your high horse man, I am not "upset" by your opinion and have no need to review it. But the things you project on us might just be a reflection of yourself and your attitudes.

Imagine what financial state of our state government would be if we were 100% on average. Now imagine what shape we'd be in if we were above average. (Actually, you don't have to imagine, just take a look at states like California.)
