http://content.usatoday.com/communi...1/06/sarah-palin-paul-revere-midnight-ride-/1 By Catalina Camia, USA TODAY Sarah Palin apparently flubbed details of Paul Revere's famous midnight ride when she visited Boston yesterday.

The former Alaska governor, who may or may not be running for the GOP presidential nomination, thought Revere was warning the British army during the Revolutionary War.

Here's the transcript, from New York magazine, of what she told reporters who were trailing her on her bus tour of historical sites:

He who warned, uh, the … the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh, by ringin' those bells and, um, by makin' sure that as he's ridin' his horse through town to send those warnin' shots and bells that, uh, we were gonna be secure and we were gonna be free … and we were gonna be armed.

Revere was, in fact, riding from Boston to Lexington to warn John Hancock and Samuel Adams of the approaching British army.

The blogosphere is having a field day with this one. ThinkProgress is panning Palin's description of this historic event. Mediaite spotlighted this for folks.

Palin: ‘We Must Never Forget the Wisdom of Jefferson, and his Wife, Weezy’

Former Gov. Gives History Lesson

MONTICELLO (The Borowitz Report) – Visiting Thomas Jefferson’s historic home, Monticello, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today paid tribute to the nation’s third President, telling an audience of supporters, “We must never forget the wisdom of Jefferson, and his wife, Weezy.”

Gov. Palin said that “at a time of our history when the American people needed leadership, it was Jefferson who said the immortal words, ‘We’re movin’ on up.’”

The former Alaska Governor, criticized in recent days over her grasp of American history, used the Monticello speech to demonstrate her knowledge of the country’s founding fathers.

“Let us have the ingenuity of Benjamin Franklin, who invented the electric chair,” she said.

“Let us have the honesty of George Washington, who told his father that he chopped down a cherry tree because it was blocking his view of Russia,” she added. “And let us have Washington’s perseverance, which he demonstrated during that harsh winter at Sweet Valley High.”

But she saved her most fulsome praise for her favorite American hero, Paul Revere: “In his famous cry, ‘One if by land, two if by sea,’ Paul Revere proved that you don’t have to know how to count higher than two to be a great American.”

At the end of her speech in Monticello, Gov. Palin said that she was looking forward to the next stop on her bus tour, Philadelphia, “the home of the Taco Bell.”

I'm just glad she didn't visit the Boston Science Museum. She'd be turning reality on its head.

We're having a colorful discussion about what Sarah may or may not have said about what Paul Revere may or may not have said way over 200 hundred years ago. I'd kinda would like to know what Ms. Palin would do to improve the economy, end the wars in the middle east, engage in the search for clean renewable energy sources, dismantle the Wall Street Mafia, and put an end to the military-industrial complex. Can she help us on those things?

Obama thinks Revere was riding to warn the people in the 51st state. Now if he can just find it.

All of this stuff is just diverting attention from the real issues that confront us. If you want serious discourse on issues find Ron Paul or Michelle Bachman. If you want a media circus keep chasing Palin.

I'm thinking she is just too fascinating to ignore. She's the type of celebrity Americans love or love to bash.

I have to admit I've been somewhat obsessed w/ Sarah Palin since her debut on the national stage.
John (Country First) McCain thought she was the very best candidate to become president if something should happen to his 72-yr-old cancer-surviving self.
She was attractive & feisty.
However, it soon became evident that she knew next to nothing about geopolitics, history, science, sociology,...or about how the world really works.
Nevertheless, it appeared that she was bright enough to study & learn about geopolitics, etc.
But, she didn't...her public utterances are vapid, flag-waving generalities: "Don't you love our Freedom?!?"
She's a political air head--& the yahoos love her.

She is kind of the Lady GaGa of politics.
