If you work for the Chosen One you can get a nice pay raise. I guess their motto is "let them eat cake."

Exactly what cake are they eating? They reduced the payroll from $38.8 to $37.1 million.
"... over the past year, the average salary of a White House employee went down, the total number of White House staffers went down, and the total amount spent on White House salaries went down. Pay increases were given for a variety of reasons, ranging from promotions to additional work responsibilities."
Seems like you should be happy instead of biatching - they are spending less money and have fewer government employees. Isn't that what you keep saying we need to do?

I don't have a problem with the overall reduction, in fact I applaud it. But they could have cut further by limiting raises. Besides, it is a little unseemly to be granting raises to White House employees when the majority of Americans, including most state and local workers, have not received a raise in years. In fact the average WH worker received an 8% raise. How many other Americans received an 8% raise?

If you read the actual article, you will find that 60% of these supposed "raises" came with new job titles and duties. That isn't a raise, it's a promotion with a commensurate salary change.
Fewer employees have more work and responsibility, so in many cases their pay changed to reflect that. The average salary went down $1,000.
This is just nitpicking and distraction. If we could reduce the overall budget by this much each year, our country would be golden.

You neglected to mention the other benefit which is 5 1/2 more years of job security.

If you were to substitute the name "Scott" for the name "Obama" would you still think it is nitpicking and distraction? I think not.

I recieved a 7% raise along with a better health insurance package...and no I don't work for the government in any capacity! It sounds to me like you are just munching on some sour grapes!

Congratulations, I am glad that you are doing well. But I have no sour grapes, last year was my best yet, and this year looks even better. I know many more though who are struggling and an 8% raise in the White House can't warm their hearts.

Does knowing that many people who work in the White House got laid off or took pay cuts warm their hearts?

There is only one person in the White House that I want laid off.

Elmer Fudd or the Roadrunner could both do a better job. So the opposition really does not concern me at the time. That said, Ron Paul would be a tremendous improvement. So would Bachman, Perry, Cain, Santorum or any of the others. Even Romney, who is almost Obama lite.

Republicans won't win the presidency until they lose the attitude. Doesn't matter if they put out a viable candidate. There will always be the fear he will drift over to the dark side once elected.

Recent history would lead one to that fear.

Maybe, but I think dubya was tame compared to some of the Republicans we currently see lined up.

Don't talk about Romney like that. Dubya was like his Dad, a liberal in conservative clothes.
