The mega county I live in is on Spring Break next week! They actually have this Friday off too.
Do not delay, run do not walk to the nearest grocery, liquor, and gas station to stock up now!!! They will descend like locust.
If you think what's come before them is bad, just wait!
Avoid driving if at all possible.

Thanks for the head's up, but I got all that done yesterday. Even mentioned to the clerk at Publix how folks on SoWal always give warning to get our shopping done before the big onslaught.

Way to go Joyce. On the other hand, I'll be able to grocery shop, eat out, and enjoy this brief moment in time at home for the next few days. Good luck my friend!

All that bed tax and money spent by folks who come down for spring break and vacations keeps our beaches restored and looking like they do and provide most of the jobs for local residents. There would be no Publix, restaurants etc.etc. Our economy depends on it and no one owns these beaches except God.
Shame on you whiners!!

I do know how important all of our guests are to our economy, but it just makes sense to get my shopping done and get out of the way. Not complaining or whining, just doing what works for me.

OMG, the traffic southbound from 400 through the connector was a parking lot at 2 PM. Apparently at the 75/85 split just south of 166, it was worse on 75 that 85. On my return I avoided the connector by taking Paces Ferry to 285. No backups at all except of course at the 285/20 intersection.

Didn't see one SoWal sticker on 85 South. :idontno:

I look at it like preparing for a snowstorm. We are stocked- milk, bread, beer, and wine. Cars are gassed up. List of house projects ready for the week. Defensive driving skills reviewed and updated.

Looks like Watercolor is being proactive- noticed the fire extinguishers on the bridges when I was running through there the other day.

Not that any parents who need to see my next comment are going to see it, but parents, please know where your kids are, who they are with, and what they are doing this week. I have no idea how 30A got to be known as the teenage dumping ground during family spring break.

Got passed ono 30-A on western lake after being tailed with brights on. As I was passed a lot of f&$@#### yous. What is up with that? Some how I thought we were more courteous on 30-A than that.

Total Agreement ! Especially after seeing an adult on a bike throw a plastic cup onto a lawn along 30A - When I beeped the horn and raised my hands and basically said "whats wrong with you"? , I got the bird flipped at me! Tourists may be an important piece of our economy but some we can do without!!

Oh, Sheila! At 12:30 CST westbound traffic on 30A in Seagrove heading toward 395 was backed up to Cassine Gardens. For those of you who don't know where that is, it's just east of One Seagrove Place!

It's cloudy here with rain threatening, so instead of beachin' it, it appears that most people are out to shop, dine, etc.

Good for businesses.

We always wait until after SB to head down. IMHO, the weeks right after, and right before Memorial Day are perfect! I think this year I'm going to be down a good bit of August, September, and as usual October.

Y'all all be careful! I've enjoyed less traffic, less crowded shopping and dinning. For the record, all people from the Metro-Atlanta area aren't rude and obnoxious. The majority know how to behave. (-;

Sheila, you are so right about coming after SB. Most of the businesses are up and running, but not full and happy to see customers. Weather is good, but not as hot as summer and beaches are welcoming with plenty of room.
Also glad I got my shopping done last week. Passed WaterColor Publix about 6 Saturday and it was insane. Heard there was an hour wait to check out. Nope, not gonna do that.

Good plan, Sheila.

I am an educator, so this is my spring break too. I don't have another break until after graduation. So I'm here. We're having a relaxing vacation.

Relaxing because we are now avoiding the traffic today by staying east of 395. Lots of great choices. Went to Goatfeathers Seagrove and got steamed shrimp for lunch. Goatfeathers has all we need for preparing a nice meal at home. We picked up breakfast food on the way into town. Nearby we have Cafe Thirty-A, Bruno's, Flip-Flops, La Botana, JC's, and the new ice cream shop in Seagrove. Plus all of the great places at Rosemary, etc.

When the sun comes back out, everyone will be back on the beach, so the traffic will drastically decrease.

Note to all at the beach this week: DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE! People are being reckless, and you'd hate to injure someone who is acting recklessly (such as I saw today-- at least 10 different instances of teenaged boys riding their bikes through the backed-up traffic without stopping or making eye contact with drivers). Plus you probably don't want to get a DUI.

Locals gotta whine a little when their town becomes mobbed. But, I have learned to stay home mostly. We are all thankful for a good season and we are willing to put up with some traffic.
