kb, i'm just waiting for mr. dd to say something even remotely like this! I'd be packed so fast and have the house sold that his head would be spinning! heck, i could even shuck an auto and a lot of this crap i've been collecting for years.

...yesterday that he thinks he's having a "mid life crisis." He says he wants to quit his software job, sell everything and hit the road with his keyboard (and me). And stay in our lil' Sowal house in between it all.

He says he's feeling fatalistic because of all the floods, fires and terrorism everywhere you look. (I think it's mainly because he just turned 40... ;-))

There's no real point to this post, I just thought I'd share. I told him this morning "I'm LOVING your mid-life crisis!" Sadly, I imagine he'll come to a different conclusion soon enough, but in the meantime, a girl can dream...

Probably right on the bluff. Get into the rare air of high end S/W dev, it's love / hate. Love the craft, hate the lowlifesumbastiles making a living making your living misrable with drivel. (hmmm, maybe chunk of lyrics for new non-buffet coastal song ? ;-) Like drink for a drunk, hard to stop I think about chuck-it-all and live in a beach hut 'bout every week.

(BTW - my forty-fling was with a cute little Shadow - the two-wheeled kind ;-))

You all are fantastic. You gave me another push. My wife and I have been getting everything together for about a year now to plan our move. We have a few more things to sell and a little more budget tightening to do before we take the plunge to the sunshine and beach.

listening to you all talk about it and dream about it, I turn 40 in October and I think we are on track to do it. I cant wait, I cant wait.

Now I can finally call it something. IM GOING THROUGH A MIDLIFE CRISIS :clap_1: :clap_1:

I say go for it! I would have loved to do just that several years ago, but now have the aging parents issue (as beachlover2 mentioned) and would worry about my cats and my lack of health insurance. Go now before you come up with reasons not to!

My folks are in thier early 70s. They are in good health for now. They live up here in ATL but also have a house in the west palm area. We have convinced them to put there house in West palm on the market and move down to Sowal with us. Hopefully it will all work out.
