okay my little fitness wannabees... here it is. and thanks for deciding on this thread name. After sharing our goals and strategies for fitness and weight reduction, we'll all be sowell on sowal!!!

Cork and I are doing at least one yoga/pilates class per week now. plus we bicycled the other day (almost killed me). and plan to do exercise on our own at home as well.

as far as diet and weight reduction, we haven't really gotten very far. I'm reading two current resources for motivation and just general info: Body for Life for Women (A Woman's plan for Physical and Mental Transformation) - Pamela Peeke, MD, and The Reality Diet (fight fat with fiber) - Schnur, MD. They are both really straightforward, no nonsense approaches to weight loss - and include a lot of info on weekly menus, exercise, etc.

I know that I will need a menu plan to follow in the first 3 months of my "transformation". If I have a reasonable menu to follow, then I don't mind shopping and cooking. Having it all planned out makes it easier for me, and it makes me eat things that I would otherwise avoid or not think about eating (it expands the culinary experience)...

What are your goals? I need to finish up some of my reading and then I plan to put my goals on paper, along with my plan to achieve them. I have also already started a food and exercise journal.

I'll be sharing some of this with you. I hope we can all share successes, questions, recipes, exercise tips, etc... hope to see you on here every day looking for motivation and at the same time giving support to all of us.. :D

Sounds like you're doing better than you give yourself credit for DD - good going! I'm looking forward to getting back into the groove again myself. Didn't know what to eat the last few days and now I think I need a BRAT diet. One extreme to another - UGH! I think a lot of my digestive troubles are stress related and that stress will be alleviated very soon. Bob bought a condo and closes on the 26th. I gave him a week to get moved out after that.

Thanks, honey...guess it's like iwiwt said, hours at a time. I'm glad things finally happened for you!! My goodness, you musta been dyin'! And let me just say..........hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......he's movin' out!!!!!!!!!!!!

My SoWell Day:

No breakfast--too busy. Lots of coffee.

Lunch--Beef Fajita salad, about 10 tortilla chips, iced tea

Dinner--yet to be determined.

Stopped to buy CIGARETTES on the way home and the store just happened to be right NEXT DOOR to Krispy Kreme--uh, uh, I know what you're thinkin'........they smelled soooooooooo good....and I don't even like KK that much.......but, NO I did NOT drive thru and buy any!! My great victory for the day!!

Well, I did have one other small victory--I finally got up the courage to weigh:eek: and I'll be danged if I don't weigh the same as when I last was keeping track. So.....I guess the holidays didn't do as much damage as I thought. At least I don't have to completely start all over again...

It is so nice to know that I'm not alone in my quest for fitness !!!!!!

I have not started eating healthy yet...

...But, I have been going to my pt every other day for back strengthening & plantar fasciitis (sp.) exercises; doing these exercises at home 2x daily. And, I got results from blood work and ALL the numbers were within the normal ranges!!! I was sweating that - thinking they would be off the charts since I had not had them checked in 6 yrs.!

Ladies, try very hard NOT to gain weight from the smoking cessation. ALL of my problems now are from gaining the weight when I stopped smoking. Good luck to each of you. It will be worth it, eventually. :clap_1:

jr--glad all was good with your blood work!

I guess my biggest fear of quitting smoking is the weight gain. I am hoping the wellbutrin may help take that edge off too...:idontno: but, it's scarin' the crap out of me to think about GAINING! Good grief--I can't afford to gain a pound!!

SGL, I was a faithful FIRM user several years ago, those tapes were so difficult but definitely delivered results. The ones I have are from the older series and I did them so long that I can not stand to do them any more. What are the titles of the ones you are using now and do you use all the different boxes. I just have one box and it is not adjustable, I think it is 8 or 10 inches tall.

My 19 y/o son stays on me all the time to get back to the gym. He told me I HAD been a good example to him because I always made time to exercise. I don't know what happened, other than I just got lazy. It has been a couple of years since I exercised with any consistency. But I am going to start back tomorrow. Once I get in the habit of making exercise part of my day, then I really miss it when I don't. Habit being the key work.

Well, I didn't last long. IBD and I went to the Girl Scout cookie sales meeting last night. Of course we had to quality taste test the merchandise. So I ate one of every kind (except the hairy looking little coconut ones), and 2 of the new lemon cookies.:bang:

Then I had a glass of wine with a little sushi dinner- I ate sushi! Well, the cooked kind, but it looked pretty official.

Will try to be better today.

 That's so funny you said hairy coconut!! That's exactly what my daughter says about coconut--"it's like eating hair'!
Why, I woulda done the same thing--sampled them all!! Did you like the new lemon ones?
And, of course you had to wash it all down with a glass of wine...makes sense to me.
You will do better today...it's a new day!

Let me clarify that the wine was at a restaurant AFTER the meeting. Probably not a good idea to BYOB wine to a Girl Scout meeting!:floor:

The hairy ones.. those are samoas and one of our favorites! I can't believe you have lemon cookies!!! Those were always my fav and ours are discontinued! They replaced them with Brownie bites that are fat free. Of course i'm limiting my order this year due to WW.

It's a new day Jenay so start fresh!

For some reason, I'm still excited about this whole WW thing. But that is good!!!!

I used to BYOB to my kid's soccer games...they never knew. But I was real popular with all the other moms when it was 30 degrees on a Saturday morning. Our coffee was quite tasty.
But, I did realize you meant at dinner....I know you're not white trash like me!

I skipped the creamer in my coffee this morning. I need the extra 2 points today! I made manicotti for dinner last night and one is 5 points. I want to have another for lunch today. I bought these WW lemon cakes at the store last night and they're only 1 point each. They're about the size of a twinkie and really taste good. I could eat the whole box for only 6 points. J/K;-)

Fiber one cereal with sliced bananas this morning. Lunch will be manicotti and the 0 point veggie soup, dinner- maybe a flat bread pizza with fresh red peppers and mushrooms.

Well after that wonderful last post.................the stomach flu hit me like a rock at 10:30 pm........everything that went in, came out. This is the first time that I can sit up without feeling faint. I hate this because its a set back in my exercise routine:( I have only been able to eat toast for two days......hopefully things will get back to normal over the weekend!!!!
