ok...the countdown has begun...

Destindreamin, I envy you. I am not getting to come there and now it looks like we won't get to go and spend the 3 nights in the cabin at the state park the end of September either. My husband's job has changed within the company he has been with for 21 years. He and the other 3 employees that were working for Polywest which is a part of Bryce were informed Friday that that department will be closing down within 4 to 6 weeks. He went on and took another position in another area and the others will probably follow suit somewhere else within the next several weeks. Now he states he has no seniority in this new department despite his 21 years with this company. Stated this in referring to vacation. I am sure all of these other employees have had their summer vacation and he hasn't had any. As far as I am concerned, he is entitled to his four weeks he has available as of August 5th, his anniversary date! And I am not rescheduling again. I have already had to once! I might as well give up! It's not meant for us to have any time away anywhere! So I am ranting with you!

I'm sorry to hear all this lady. mr. dd changed jobs recently and wasn't sure he'd be able to take off this summer either, but I had already decided I'd just leave him home! I'm real sensitive like that. :funn: (see october thread..."should I get a divorce"). but, it all worked out, and his new boss told him, go...so it's off to the beach for us. hope you get to take some time somewhere. all souls need that from time to time.

Not doing anything to try and dampen your fun time coming up, but I already had this scheduled for the end of this month and one of his coworkers scheduled jury duty that same week and I had to change our date to accommodate him. I sympathize with your utility bill. Ours was higher also, near $300.00! I have never had one that high as yours. Ouch! I hope you guys have a wonderful time. And think of me when you are at my favorite place and I am sitting home staring at the walls here at home. Makes me sad! He unfortunately cannot say anything for a couple of weeks about that to his supervisor. I hope we can work things out!

I hope it does also. I am fed up with having to work around everyone else as to getting to even go anywhere. It doesn't involve my work, just his. But he is a total chicken to even want to speak up. Needs to get some backbone.

Lady I feel for you. I missed my Sowal trip in May because we lost Daddy. I was hoping to go in October but it looks like that's not going to happen either. My beautiful daughter is getting married No one told me how expensive weddings were, jeez! I feel like I'm in the movie Father of the Bride except it's just Mother of the Bride. Do we really need to feed all these people???

But hey we have our good Sowal friends, I feel like I'm taking mini vacations when I read their trip reports and see their pictures. Now if I could just get that afternoon nap in at work like I do at the beach...aahhh.

mr. dd has turned into a raging lunatic because i have not yet begun to pack. you'd think after 16 years, he'd know i NEVER pack until 2 hours before I walk out the door. Guess this year, I will pack the night before, since we're leaving at 4 am saturday. my kids are already fighting. i've got about 8 million things to do before i can even begin to be officially on vacation. gotta deliver the dog to the sitter, make sure the cat sitter is gonna show up, pay bills, get oil changed, wash vehicle, make grocery list.seems all he has to do is get on a plane. it didn't help tonight that we got a $477.00 electric bill! guess who'll be sweating for the rest of the summer? and summer lasts here til the end of October. don't get me wrong though, I'm super excited! I get to meet some more SoWal friends, take a good look at GBSP, eat some good fattening food, drink a lot, spend time on the beach with my family, read a lot, sleep some and don't have to go to work for 10 glorious days!!

thanks cheering. i am getting excited, but it's hard keeping mr. dd grounded during this time--he runs around going mach 2 with his hair on fire--and like i said, basically, he's just gotta get on a plane, but hey, it's his routine, so what are ya gonna do?

i would $h*t down my leg if i got a $700 electric bill - fire up the paddles, my heart's gonna need a shock. i was po'd because my last electric bill was $137 and my gas bill was $34 and i thought that was outrageous.... audie will complain no more.

My daughter's been dragging a portable fan around with her 'cause I've got the AC set too warm for her. (81 upstairs / 80 down and even warmer when we're not here. ) Fans help a lot. Our bill just topped $300 and only one other time had we edged past $200. We have nearly 3000 sq.ft. I'm ready for smaller ! :roll:

:roll: Our home is around 1600 square feet and our winter bills for the coldest months were around $350.00! Does anyone else have the gas price adjustment charges on their utility bills. That gets doubled on everyone's bills here alot of months. If the gas portion of your bill is actually around $70.00, alot of times it is doubled! They are passing on their having to pay more for their gas to us, which I can understand, but they are not paying double I wouldn't think for their gas. MLGW is jokingly referred to as Memphis, Light, Gas and Robbery instead of Memphis Light, Gas and Water. Nothing but a bunch of crooks and incompetents running the government in this city!
