You are so right. We are driving down with outdoor faucet covers. I installed some here in GA today. Argh! I planned to spent all of last January at the beach. But I was trapped inside due to the nasty weather. So I drove back to GA.

I had to come to Kansas, my Grandma passed away, it is 17...17! In mid November, that apparently is cold even by Kansas standards, leaving before it snows tonight. My wife said it wasn't going to get out of the 50s today at home...what the hell happened to Fall?

Sorry about your Grandma.

I've spent a lot of time in Kansas. It gets even colder when the wind blows. And the wind always blows.

Actually it is global warming's fault. The warming temperatures screw up the polar vortex and jet stream and bring us colder weather.

Zebra, don't even go there. It is simply not worth the effort.

I wonder what part of the word "global" they don't understand. It's global warming, not local warming. It will be cold in the Arctic relative to Florida forever. When that air makes it's way to us in ways different from the past, it will be cold here. Let's ask the people in Australia about this alleged global cooling that people on the right are throwing about.

As I said before, we are closer to Atlanta than Orlando. It is odd in some ways that it gets colder here than it did in Houston although it is on roughly the same latitude. The getting dark so early thing is what is the most difficult to get used to. I am a 5 am riser so that is awesome, but happy hour at 4pm is odd...sometimes..

If my memory serves me correctly, this winter thing happens just about every year. It happens at the same time of year, and it gets cold. Sometimes it gets colder than other times. How peculiar. But, in general, it's usually about twenty cold days spread out over two or three months, and most of the days, between these cold days, are just grand.

Okay wise ass! Living in paradise comes with a few caveats. We had been down
here enough the last few years to know that it can get a bit chilly..cold....really cold like two years ago. So there lvt2!

The coldest weather I ever experienced here was in 1983. All I can say right now is that I'm not missing the summer one bit. This is welcome relief.

Yes, let's....

http://jennifermarohasy.com/2014/08/heat-is-on-over-weather-bureau-homogenising-temperature-records/

Very interesting. I'd like to know more about it. Please explain the homogenisation process in intricate detail. Thanks! I actually do not think that lower minimums in the winter in and of itself would shed light on the situation. I read the page as thoroughly as I could. It didn't seem to take seasons into account. You can't blame me for wanting more information on the topic right? I assume that these questions never occurred to you because you are a credentialed climatologist, correct?

Clever, so by posting anything that disagrees with your "establishment theory" I am now supposed to become a climate scientist?

Post all your own personal peer reviewed research papers and then you may demand I publish that which you can simply google

the "we all know it's true so you have to prove otherwise" is exactly what the article is about.

simply taking money from rich countries and rich families can't change the weather, no matter how many liberals knowingly smirk to each other about it

You post something as vague, non committal and specious as
"ask the people in Australia about this alleged global cooling"
and when I post something that isn't part or your, and AlGore's ,
world view suddenly you start making demands....

how about this, post everyone in Australia's opinion you allude
to, then you may demand I post the footnotes of the opposing view

otherwise you make gigantic leaps in established science simply to suit your own opinion

silly, ad hoc liberal rules of discussion.

post nothing conclusive of your own, and then sit back and demand
others who disagree with your vague conjecture suddenly be scientists who you accept

I just asked you a simple question and you went all high order. Please explain this homogenisation thing and what's wrong with it. I don't have any strong opinions on global warming and knowledge of methods used to gather data, so don't go making assumptions. The only assumption I made is that if if a person is going to post something about homogenisation, he would have some knowledge of it. Do you? To be fair, my climatologist remark was out of line.

Apparently you got a little too literal and didn't get the reference. The discussion was centered on how cold it is in the northern hemisphere this time of year. For some reason someone always points out an unusually cold winter debunks global warming. So I pick out some southern hemisphere country where it's approaching summer and probably not so cold at this time of year. So in other words psst! Maybe winter in North America isn't the best time to consider writing off the possibility of global warming. Do you get it now?
