Oh and yes, I liked to play with dolls.

I have no clue why they tore them up. Mother just let them do whatever they wanted - they were terrors - because she apparently had severe depression. My dad dropped dead unexpectedly of a heart attack at 54 (she was 44) and left her with a 6-year-old, an 8-year-old, and a college freshman 500 miles away (Tulane). I didn't know how bad things were at home until my sister told me a few years ago.
Except for American Girl dolls, my daughter's like yours - she never cared much for her "fancy" dolls. She still is more of a stuffed animal person. I promise you that Nala (from The Lion King) will be with her on her honeymoon!
Kimmi, it's really sad that you were frightened by those dolls.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!! Crissy with the growing hair! I um, kind of like, cut Crissy's hair however....![]()
Hey Pea, did you ever have a Baby Alive that you fed and it pooped???
Tootsie, I remember hook rugs and making potholders was the best!!!! :shock:OMG! I thought that I was the only nerd who made potholders. Another favorite toy I had was a surrey-with-the-fringe-on top that I pretended was my car. I made a sign that said "Potholders For Sale," taped it to the surrey, and would sit for hours at the end of the driveway waiting for someone to buy some. Problem was that we lived on a cul-de-sac, so there was no through traffic. Occasionally a neighbor would feel sorry for me and buy a couple.
How different things are today. If you gave your child a potholder maker (loom) they probably would think you are crazy...

Did anyone have troll dolls? I never liked dolls--no Barbies or MAs for me--but I always played with my trolls. (Good lord what does that say about me???) I learned how to braid on my wild troll hair. My trolls had cradles made from leftover Velveeta boxes.

I LOVED troll dolls!

Me too. That's why I had GI Joe instead of the Ken doll.
Cheese trolls.![]()
My Barbies were always naked and rode my Breyer model horses. Naked jockeys. Ken of course did not have a problem with this since he didn't really have a package to protect.:funn:

GI Joe had a package??
Speaking of packages...does anyone remember Baby Joey from All in the Family? My best friend had him and he was the real deal!![]()
