Don't look now, but Russia is in trouble. A second Cold War on the way?

The ruble is in a huge decline, almost 50% against the dollar this year. Putin is spending trillions on arms. The Russians are still playing in the Ukraine. Inflation in Russia is at 10%.

That oil price may be a double edged sword. It's going to hurt Europe as well.

Hint: Maybe credit a do nothing congress, especially the house.

The Russian central bank raised interest rates to 17%!! Keep watching. There are a few cracks in the facade that is the EU economy. Things could be getting interesting again.

No, but dictators rarely do. Russia's been through a Coup before and it didn't require our, or any other countries, military assistance.

Why don't we invade Russia? They have a totalitarian government, just like Iraq. They have oil, just like Iraq, and I've heard they have been developing nuclear weapons. Tell Halliburton to ramp up! Let's do it!

Who suggested military assistance? Certainly not me. I served 22 years. I'm in no hurry to send our military into harms way.

A lot of EU countries are closely tied to the Russian economy. Failure for Russia spells issues for the world economy.

It doesn't matter who's in charge of a country when it simply prints more money. Jim Rogers said recently that all currency is worthless.

So did the US; November 22, 1963. The trajectory changed from real potential for peace and increased personal liberty to continuous war and a direction toward serfdom.

Really? Is that a joke? Putin is no different from the Soviet dictators.

It's "Ukraine", not "the Ukraine", just like it's not "the America".

Putin is very popular in Russia and other Russian speaking countries and will continue to be so. He is seen as a strong leader unlike our current POTUS who is weak and indecisive.

This is about Russia creating an alternative to SWIFT, which should go live in a few months.

And a great aggregator: www.thelibertymill.com

Or you can keep watching Fox News, and listen to Hannity, O'Reilly et al bang the war drum.

I say "the Ukraine" just like I say "the Netherlands". Not sure why. I'll work on it.

I don't watch Fox, or listen to anyone banging the war drum. I get my information from The Economist. I've never met anyone that I take seriously that dismisses their good work. I also read BBC News Online. BBC can be quite sensationalist with regard the GB politics, but not normally with world affairs. I also don't read financial analysis from someone whose moniker is a Tyler Durden. You do know where that originates, right?

While true that Putin's poll number were 88% approval in October, when things start to hurt at home, we'll have to see if they turn. The Russians love a good "us against the world" fight, but when they can't get basic staples, we'll see how long Putin's support lasts.

The Liberty Mill? Seriously? Fox fans on steroids. The SGTreport? Laughable. Do you have your 30 days of rations stored?

For those of you who don't know SGTreport, take a look: http://sgtreport.com/
