Christmas Trips

A number of my friends, including some on this board, have been tossing around the idea of taking a trip somewhere this Christmas.

It seems like it could be a fun time to get away, as work schedules slow down and if we plan it correctly- prices are lower.

Originally, our thoughts were something with mountains and snow -The Italian Alps, Germany, Austria, Banff or Vancouver etc.

A city trip might be fun- Paris, Quebec, Rome.

I have traveled for Xmas once, to southern Italy, it was great fun, but I would love to hear about other peoples experiences with trips at this time of year.

Anyone been to Paris in December? How is it? Too cold? etc.......

Any thoughts about more exotic locations like Morocco?

Per person or for the whole ride? How many people can it accommodate?

It's per person  and the balloon holds 4 people. We could do one over Tuscany for about $135 but it wouldn't be as spectacular as the Alps. Also need to check the dates to see if any will even be going up at that time. We might not be able to do it if they only run Spring, Summer and/or Fall. Will keep you posted.

Any idea where Uncle Timmy is? Does Toots know if he's around. Sent a PM to him but hasn't responded.

Oops, sorry guys. I've been AWOL for a few days. The weather is just incredible and I have been outside playing, away from the computer!

Cork, I am very flexible on the dates. Leaving Dec 26 sounds fine. I would probably want to return around the 3rd or 4th I guess.

My vote is for Paris. I've been doing some research and I am getting real excited about a trip. I have at least 2 other folks who want to go to Paris for the week as well.

I will probably want to spend the whole time there, but our group can be flexible, with some folks staying in Paris the whole time and others heading off to the mountains, etc. after a few days......

This is going to be funn.

Finally! OK, so you've got 3 so far and you want to stay in Paris pretty much. I can't believe no amsterdam , no venezia? :idontno:

I've never been in Paris on New Years Eve, do we have any intel on that?

How bout you Ali, I know you said you definitely want to do Italy. Do you want to stay anywhere particular for several days? I'm easy either way because I've seen it all before and this is ALL about you guys!

Oh brilliant idea! He says sarcastically………….

Can you imagine me as your tour guide to Paris? Oh yes, you’d all love it at first, the hilarity and smart ass comments would keep you all well entertained…..at first.

And then it would turn ugly.

Oh I can see it now, the gay man leading the poor wretched rabble of heteros on a Tour de France.

And then the revolt would begin, the second French Revolution. “No more haut-couture boutiques!...No more cabaret!”, the fetid masses of straights would scream as they set up a barricade, Les Miserables style, in the hotel corridor to keep 30-gAy from leading them on yet another tour of pastry shops.

Marie Antoinette lost her head in just such an affair; I however, have too much self preservation instinct to fall into this trap.
And so I will stay safely here in south Walton. To the poor masses of heterosexuals, I say…

“Let them eat Crabcake!”
