Man 2006 has flown bye bye. Fall break will be here soon, and the GA/FL game is on, come October 28. Not too long before Thanksgiving and Christmas roll around. You know if it weren't for school and football, I would hate this time of year, the end of summer and the turning of the leaves is so depressing.

i love winter - snow and cold - yay !!!! i'm not ready for christmas tho. am trying to get the in-laws to do away with the gift exchange and just buy for the kids. mr audie and i would rather sit around and eat and visit instead of opening presents that you feel like you have to buy. i convinced my family to go this route years ago and it is such a relief !

Nay to the cold and winter. :(
My family has been doing that for years now, just buy toys for the kids. We do get each other a gift if we see something that is really appropriate, but mainly we either make or buy a funny gift for each other.
This year, Mr. mango has a huge wooden crate at his office that we will use to put the lamp leg in from a Xmas Story and he will write Fragile on it, and we will leave it in front of my BIL and sisters house on Xmas Eve.
Its a family joke. :funn:

bsmart, I totally agree with you. hate when summer ends, but I do like halloween, t'giving and christmas.
audie, we've had this discussion before...can't take the cold. i'm a wimp.
audie/mango: i have a big thing each Christmas for all the kids/grandkids/ex-stepkids called Kids Christmas. all in all there are 7 kids, some with spouses, and most with kids of their own--10 grandkids. Out of necessity, we only buy for the grandkids. This year, I'm thinking of having it somewhere else besides my house--too many people, but in the end, it will probably be here.

I can't believe it's already October. But at least I get to take a little trip this month!!:clap_1:

half of paris, including the louve museum, arrives in hotlanta late this month and pitty pat's porch is still there (or so i hope!), oh and the huge aquarium that we haven't seen yet - and the marriott for 200/night! yippee!

Oh, fall is my absolute favorite time of year for many reasons. relief from a long hot summer, 70 degree gorgeous wonderful weather, blue jeans and boots, halloween, the best time of year at the beach - ever, locals gather at the Red Bar, the crowds are gone, and all is peaceful. This area does not have much in the way of changing leaves, but the beauty of the beach, the water, the wildflowers, etc. is incredible. the weather will remain perfect til Christmas or later.

however, christmas time does make me very anxious....

I would like the end of summer better at the beach. Here, it's just dark too early, hot usually til Thanksgiving, no real holidays between Labor Day and Thanksgiving, some leaves, but they only last about a day. Not real exciting.

Toots, have you not finished your shopping yet?

I have about 18 neices and nephews on my list. I'm getting ready to drop them and concentrate on my own kid (I'll continue to do birthdays!). I didn't know I was going to have children, so I established a tradition of buying for all the kids - and we have huge families on both sides. kids get so much from santa these days, they really don't need gifts from everyone else. I want to buy for our parents, and a few close local friends who we celebrate Christmas with, and of course spidey. his santa/christmas list is growing by the day...

maybe I'll make some christmas ornaments this year for close friends and family.... how does one make ornaments? Jfunn - you are creatively gifted aren't you??

Whew! You've got a big list! We still buy for our kids, and the grandkids of course, but I cut it WAY down last year. I used to just go crazy, but now I spend more on decorations, etc. The grandkids get so much, it's silly to buy them a lot. But, I always expect Santa to visit me. This year, I'm asking for French Doors. I always WANT jewelry, but never get it, so I go for the more practical. Mr. dd gave up buying me clothes years ago, cuz he always bought things about 6 sizes too small and then was mad when I wouldn't wear them.

Hmmm........ornaments....I thought we were having an SoWal ornament exchange--get that glitter out girl!!

Bsmart, the girl in your tar is really pretty. Her dress/top reminds me of one of Laura's designs from Project Runway. Does she always dress so nice for the library? ( at least that's what it looks like) So, is it serious?

She does dress up quite nicely  . We are actually at Last Resort Grille in Athens, in that photo. I hope it gets a little more serious. Right now it is just dating, as in each other and no other person. We have a lot in common: Love football, we are both runners, I used to play soccer and she retired from soccer at UGA because of an injury, love to travel, etc..

Oh, bsmart, the turning of the leaves is my favorite time of year! I don't welcome winter, but I truly love Fall.
I have a tradition on this day every year; I play U2's "October' to ring in the season. I better hurry up--still haven't done it!
