I did not watch that movie because I couldn't bear watching Clooney act and look like a gooney.

Mango, you HAVE to see it. One of my all time favorites!

I agree Mermy....George is fanatastic in this movie. I fell in love with him even more after watching him in Oh Brother!!!

Oh yeah, totally agree.

Does anyone have the soundtrack? The music in the movie was really good, but sometimes the soundtrack to movies can be a bit disappointing. Is this one good?

Have it and love it.

I adore this line, and so many more... see how smart Ulysses is?

I almost posted this exact same thing!!! I am not kidding. I did not get the george Clooney thing at all UNTIL I saw him in this movie. His acting was superb and he WAS this really complex funny intelligent loser greasy con man with a huge heart. I'm a fan now too!!!

I don't care two sticks about tall handsome hunky leading men because I like the one I have. But I never could resist a funny man. I'll watch their movies every time!! I snoozed when Mel Gibson did serious movies but loved him in all those Lethal Weapon movies. Same thing with George. I could watch him back to back in Oh Brother.

Penny Wharvey McGill: Vernon here's got a job. Vernon's got prospects. He's bona fide. What are you?

Ulysses Everett McGill: You two are just dumber than a bag of hammers.

Ulysses Everett McGill: Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Just a few of my favorite lines.

I think we see this movie so many times because the lines are just so great, and you really need to see it at least a few times to hear and appreciate them all.

DD - at the soiree, maybe you can entertain us by reciting a few??? pleeeeeeeeze???????????

Delmar O'Donnell: Care for some gopher?
Ulysses Everett McGill: No thank you, Delmar. One third of a gopher would only arouse my appetite without bedding it down.
Delmar O'Donnell: Oh, you can have the whole thing. Me and Pete already had one apiece. We ran across a whole... gopher village.

One of my many favorites. :lolabove::biggrin:

Even though every female in the world was in love with George Clooney, I was not. Couldn't see what the point of him was..............until I saw that movie. He was SOOOOO funny there that I've been a number #1 fan since then. That movie is a stitch (and gets funnier every time you watch it)!!!
Clooney was amazing in this movie...showed real range other than a pretty boy!

I think we could swing this. The movie is funny enough that it's worth the trouble. I probably could get a copy from the video store and everyone is hereby invited to my little 500 square feet of paradise for a viewing. Think back to the 1950s when kids crammed themselves into phone booths and you'll get an idea of the funn we could have.
