Buster, Boudin and PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

We left Thursday afternoon bound for Shreveport so I suggested that we stop and have dinner with my dear friend and her new man in Longview. We met them and had a nice dinner and it was wonderful seeing her. We also met her friend, Buster, who is like an icon in Longview. Cowboy hat, leather coat, white beard. Had a way with the ladies, I think. Colorful language. I only spit my drink out once. On to Shreveport, and the only motel room we could find at 11:30 p.m. Ok, we didn't look that hard, we were tired. Got up early Friday morning and took off. We got some coffee and headed to Alexandria. Stopped in Lecompte for lunch at Lea's Lunch Room and got Mango a coconut piiiiiiiii. Took Skunky's advice and headed for Hwy 190. Stopped at Billy's Mini Mart in Krotz Springs for gas and boudin for RO. Drove and drove. Took I-10 to 331. Not our best choice. Slow and dark. Finally arrive and meet the Mangos , the beachbummets, and the dbucks . Get to bed early--tired again.
Saturday, went to the sale and met up with allifunn , ibd ,the mers ,gttbm . I was so busy talking that I didn't even really look at anything, much less buy anything. Then, mr. dd and I head to the Red Bar for a quick bloody before lunch. Meet lots more wonderful sowallers at Amore. Steele Mama, you are too cute for words and so I guess that makes steeling 1 and Rowan and GK indescribable!! They were all precious!
And then, after Miss Kitty kept saying really strange things to me like "I'm cleaning" and "I'm waiting for someone to come to my house", she shows up with none other than the fabulous KDW!!! Too funn!!!
I think by this time, I was a little tipsy, but we forged on. Went by the house to make corn dip and then went to the beach with KDW and her great friend Elaine. It was a great time. THEN, the soiree. You've all read about it, but there are no words to express what a special time it was! mr. dd has a whole new appreciation for SoWal and for all the wonderful people that I talk about constantly. Special thanks to IBD for trying to poke out the lenses in my "kitty" glasses and to mr. IBD for driving us back to our truck so we wouldn't have to drag a cooler through the sand!!
I was so thrilled to FINALLY meet my allifunn after all these months of "talking"!! Cork and Sunshine were the hit of the party! Miss Kitty was, well, Miss Kitty...precious as always ! Dbuck looked so darling and IS so darling . The Mangos are too darling for words!! Toots--you're a doll! I was so excited to see the mers! twice in one day! My friend gttbm--I just heart you. Loved meeting the skunky's, RO & GB, LL and fam. Walker is a DOLL! Goofer (er, uh, Shelly), it was great meeting you! And Franny.....You're tops in my book!
I was so touched when I introduced myself to GK and he gave me a hug!! What a sweetie!!
Sunday brunch with dbuck, the mangos and allifunn. I think we were all a little subdued after the soiree. I imagine allifunn was thinking of that mofo of a drive ahead of her. We said our goodbyes and mr. dd and I headed to GBSP. Very cool place. We took the little hike through and took some pics. Came back and took a nap. Talked to Miss Kitty about dinner plans and I'll be danged if EVERY place we tried to go wasn't closed!! She finally graciously led us to Sandestin to Acme Oyster Bar and she and the goto's and mr. dd and I had a great, funn dinner. Sad parting..
Up Monday and after another sad goodbye, hit the road. I'ma tellin' you, driving 9 freakin' hours in driving rain and hurricane force winds is just a little nerve wrecking!! I needed one of those jello shots of Cork's after that! Guess you're all getting it there in SoWal today and tonight. But, I would drive it again in a heartbeat to spend time with such wonderful people!
