let me share my day yesterday with everyone:
dog got me up at 3 to go out. i decided to run down to the hospital and get the results of my labwork i had done. my cholesterol is up a bit, as i expected, so i will be getting chastised for that i'm sure when i go to the dr in 2 weeks. then i decide to run to the grocery store to pick up a few things thinking since it is 5 am, it won't be busy. well, they were replacing their generators and the registers weren't working properly. the scanners didn't work so the cashier had to punch each item's barcode in separately. boy was he glad when i put my cart full of crap on the conveyor. so halfway thru this excrutiating checkout process, everything goes dark, and my order he had rang half up was lost. after standing there for another 15 mins, i told him i was going home, have funn putting up the s&^t on the conveyor. but the manager did give me a 10% off coupon for my next visit. wow - the generosity was astounding.
so at 8:30 am i had to take dog to the vet to get groomed and for yet another urine sample. she is overweight (like me) and fell off her dog ramp trying to get into my truck. she landed on her hips bad, i knew as soon as it happened she was gonna be sore. and she is, she can now hardly get up and down, i have to lift her up which she hates and it involves biting. life is good. my vet bill was $240 - $120 for her grooming because she was a horrific mess from shedding her summer undercoat and getting in the winter one, and $120 for her last urine culture. this culture came back so bad, that we decided it couldn't possibly be right, so we waited to repeat after she got groomed and the groomer shaved her area down there for me.
well, at 8 pm the vet calls and says oh my god we've got a problem, her urine is ate up with bacteria, blood and white blood cells, she can see the bacteria moving without putting it in the microscope. we decided to hold off on the culture and treat based on the one from a few weeks ago, which means she is full of e.coli. yay ! so the the vet asks if my hubby is home, i said no, thinking WTF ? she said she had never used the one medication dory's urine was sensitive to and wanted to see if he knew about it since he is a pharmacist. i said ummm hello - so am i lady ! she had forgot this tidbit. so anywho - dog is now on a medication that costs $100 for a 2 week supply - that is the drug cost at the hospital for me to order it in. for don to fill it at cvs would be $248 for a 2 week supply. man, the funn never ends here ! so i am jamming 2 capsules down her throat every 6 hours for god only knows how long, i need another job to afford the medication for crying out loud, and my hands are already sore from the teeth marks.
what this all boils down to is i spend $340 yesterday and didn't get a darn thing for myself. welcome to the wonderful world of the audies!

Sounds like you and your pooch had a frustrating and rough day, E-coli, poor pooch! Hope your pooch gets well soon! Oh, and your bite marks. It's bad when they fall and get so stiff you have to help them up. I give my pooch one aspirin a day in with the dog food. Vet told me I could!

Sorry your day was cockapoo
So what did you eat? I'm evil, I would have bit the grocer especially if I was hungry enough. I bite too when someone tries to shave me. ;-)

Try putting the pill in a folded up slice of cheese, it gives the dog a treat and makes your life a little easier. I think I can top you dog cost...this summer the UPS man ran over my dog (speeding down a PRIVATE road)- $2200.00 later, I now have a 3 legged dog!! (and no, they will not pay the vet bill!!
) Anyway the cheese saved me!

this doesn't work - i have yet to find the food she can't pick a pill out of, including peanut butter
your best bet is to jam it down her throat, quickly !sorry to hear about your doggie, i would've beaten the ups man to death. and i'm not joking.

Max would do that to, I think I had tryed everything also, but the pre packaged slice cheese is so sticky, he has yet to get it out. I have to give him an 2 pills a day for allergies and I was getting desperate.
I didn't have to beat up the poor guy, I think he was doing that himself

our ups guy who brings at least one movie every week is terrified of dory. i like to let her out to greet him to see the sheer terror on his face when he sees 125 lbs of dog coming at him. he's getting better tho, he will actually pet her now. he used to run from her.

the worst dory will do is lick you to death, although she could put the hurt to you if she decided to bite ya. her warning bites are bad enough, i wouldn't want the real thing.

Poor Audie, poor Dory
What kind of dog is Dory? I can't imagine picking up after a sick 125 pound dog.
Bad enough to clean up after my 12 pound dog. I have only ever had a small dog, went walking with my friend with a huge dog, she carts out this big plastic bags...I'm like what is that for
Nevermind.....
Hope you are both better soon.

I can relate. Our little Cocker Spaniel was an expert at extracting pills from cheese, peanut butter, etc. She would gobble up the good stuff and hide the pill in a corner of her mouth until we weren?t looking. We?d find the pill a few minutes later on the floor.
If you really want to have a terrifying experience just try to stuff a pill down the cat?s (shown at the left) throat!
