Increase the requirements, background checks, testing to get and keep a driver's license. Install integrated breathalyzers in every single vehicle. Do you care that the number of people killed because of drunk driving is many times more that ALL firearm deaths per year, or or you just parroting the totalitarian mantra of "gun control"?
The right to bear arms to defend ones self from bad people, including an overreaching government, is ACKNOWLEDGED not granted by the 2nd Amendment. Please show me where it is a right to choose to get behind the wheel of a vehicle drunk and take off and kill someone.

Here is my opinion on gun control legislation : I think the government should pass some measures of gun control, if only for symbolic reasons, just to show that perhaps our government* gives a f**k about guns and the mental health of this country. NO, THEY WILL NOT SEIZE YOUR GUNS. (I would have thought the mental health of the nation's gun owners wouldn't require that statement, but I wasn't sure.) Perhaps, it just means gun registration. Perhaps it just means a ban on assault rifles. Perhaps it just means keeping mentally disturbed people from easily buying weapons. I don't think for a moment any of the measures would seriously reduce the gun violence in this country, but just perhaps it might be a minuscule start in a campaign to change the mass paranoia in this country. I know it's a bit naïve to bring up "cigarette smoking" and "seat belt use", but our collective consciousness about these two deadly things were successfully changed. We don't have to live in a society where guns are OK and even worshipped. It's OK to try to put a sever social stigma on guns. Really.

You admit in your own post above that the measures you suggest, gun registration, battle rifle ban, crazy person ban from acquiring firearms, won't work. Passing laws that will only make things worse will not help the problem, but "we gotta do something", right?
Pick ANY city across our country that has a de facto firearm ban, and I will show you much higher violent crime with guns involved. Shall we start with Chicago??

They can only influence the election against Trump's opponent through the proliferation of absurd conspiracy theories similar to pizzagate, Clinton body count, Clinton's health etc.. False negative portrayals of the president are almost non-existent because the president himself is the boisterous messenger of all the reasons no decent person should consider voting for him.
