this morning our beloved dory passed away at the vet's office. she fell down the basement steps sunday night and was unable to bear weight on her back legs. the vet kept her overnight for steroid infusions, and she was moving a bit when he got there at 6:15. at 7:30 she suddenly had trouble breathing and began turning blue, and before he could do anything with her she took a big breath and expired. he xrayed her chest to see if he could find out anything, and said her heart was enlarged, and he felt she had maybe thrown a blood clot when she got to moving around. i will probably be pretty scarce on the board for a few days, i think my heart has broken in two. thank you for all the good wishes everyone has sent her way for the kidney infections. my only comfort is that i didn't have to make the decision to put her down if she couldn't walk again.

Oh Audie, I'm so sorry to hear about Dory. Please know that you and Mr. Audie are in my thoughts. We haven't had pets in years because of allergies, but I do remember how hard it is to lose one. My heart goes out to you.

i emailed dory's breeder yesterday with the news, and she offered me another pup said it would be ready to go by december.... we were both like, thanks but no thanks lady. i have no intentions of ever going thru this much pain again voluntarily !

It does get easier though, and one day, believe me, you may be ready again for another.

Audie: I am so sorry to hear this about Dory. I've experienced this many times over since childhood, and its always so hard but so worth having those wonderful dogs in your life. You gave her a wonderful home and much love. We're thinking of you and Mr Audie. It's going to be hard with Dory not there in your home - she'll always be in your heart.
