After a three hour sleep I am now awake and on some pain medications from the wisdom teeth surgery. I feel ok, actually my head and nose hurts really bad, not really my jaw yet.

When Cap'n Crazy had his wisdom teeth out he was in the Navy and we were living in Maine. They sent him all the way to New Hampshire in a Navy van (with very poor shock absorbers) for the procedure. He was in major pain (they were impacted) so the doc gave him some serious pain killers to take on the way home. They dropped him off at our house but I was not home so he went next door to his commanding officer's house and the CO's wife let him in. Apparently he said a few amorous things to her (she said she was thrilled to have this young junior officer say such things) but she never let him live it down.

And if those don't work, try clove oil - the best thing my dentist ever gave me for pain.

No smoking and no straws, sip your drinks. No carbinated (spelling ?) drinks, stick to tea or juice..ice is your friend. The less swelling you have the less pain you'll have. Good luck. Keep us posted.

They gave me the gas, (Nitrous Oxide) before surgery and I decided that I would inhale as deeply as I could just so see what happens........I was flying by the time surgery rolled around. They had to stop the surgery a number of times due to my uncontrollable laughing fits.

Well, they also shoot you up with Novocane to numb your jaw, but at one point it started to wear off and I could feel every bit of the surgery -and it hurt. But here's the crazy part - I was so high on laughing gas that I remember thinking "Wow, this really hurts and I should ask for more Novocane but it's really just to much trouble. So I'll just sit here. Ow."

I wasn't in pain and I couldn't figure out why I was crying. I asked the doctor why. She told me that most woman who get sodium penathol wake up crying for no reason, and most men wake up laughing for no reason. It was just so strange to be crying and not know why!!!

That was probably less painful than trying to numb you with an abcess. Glad you survived. Ahh the good old days in the dental office...can't say I really miss working there but I do miss the patients.

The dentist was a genius :clap_1: , It was too hard to reach the area to numb and I think I may have had an abcess. There were only 3 nerves left to yank. I didn't really feel a thing. ;-)
