Things You'll Need

  • Iron
  • Ironing Board
  • Shirt
  • Water sprayer
Instructions

  • STEP 1: Begin with a damp shirt.
  • STEP 2: Spray the shirt with water.
  • STEP 3: Using a iron on a high setting and an ironing board with a cover, begin ironing the inside of the cuffs and up the tabs of the sleeves.
  • STEP 4: Turning the tab side of the sleeve upward, iron up the inside of the sleeve. Repeat with the other sleeve.
  • STEP 5: Next, fit the shirt smoothly over the end of the board and iron the neck.
  • STEP 6: Iron the inside-front panels. You can iron right over the buttons and the pocket from the backside of the fabric.
  • STEP 7: Next, move on to the right-front panel, the back of the shirt, the side seams, and around to the left-front panel.
  • STEP 8: Hang your perfectly pressed shirt on a hanger, buttoning the top button to hold it in place.
Forget it...take it to Goodwill!!!! :lolabove:

 this is horrifying. makes me think of a great halloween costume - an ironing board, with an iron as a hat.

these are better instructions:

  1. wad up said white button down cotton shirt.
  2. place wadded shirt on top of prepared wood pile in fireplace.
  3. ignite.
works every time. and you save gas (no drive to goodwill)

Perfect timing. With the high winds and afraid I might lose power, I just ironed all my clothes for the weekend so I would be able to function properly.

HA- You laugh. Extreme Ironing may become an Olympic Event.

Congratulations to London - host of the 2012 Olympic Games

Topic Extreme Ironing News

On a tense day for all sports loving Brits, London won the right to host the 2012 Olympic games - but could it pave the way for the first ever appearance of extreme ironing?
The Olympic Internation Committee announced the winner of a hotly fought contest at lunchtime today.

London won the fight with Paris by 54 votes to 50 at the IOC meeting in Singapore, after bids from Moscow, New York and Madrid were eliminated.

Extreme Ironists are delighted with the result, which could see their sport hosted on the world stage for the first time. Although the first Extreme Ironing World Championships, held in Munich in 2002, were a great success, the founder of extreme ironing has been campaigning for the sport to be featured in the Olympics for the past year.

"Like any patriotic Brit, I'm delighted that we'll be hosting the 2012 Olympics - Britain deserves a chance to have such a big event," said Phil Steam aka Steam, who founded extreme ironing in Leicester in 1997.

"But it means we've got just 8 years or so to convince the IOC that extreme ironing should feature as an event. If you can have other so-called sports like synchronised swimming, then why not extreme ironing?"

Sir Steve Redgrave, who was instrumental in bringing the games to Britain, added, "It is a fantastic sport. It's a little bizarre in some respect, but in a few years' time, rowing could be chopped from the Olympics and extreme ironing could be in!"

Prime Minister Tony Blair was also euphoric. "It's not often in this job that you punch the air and do a little jig and embrace the person next to you," he said.

"We have got a great chance now to develop sport in our country and to have a fantastic Olympic Games and then to leave a legacy for the future," added Blair.
