I feel so special. I have a welcome thread! I'm Beach Runner's daughter, and was feeling very uncreative when choosing a name. I'm a Georgia Tech student and I love the beach, hence the name Beach Jacket.

GT's mascot is the Yellow Jacket. Yeah, we have a bug as our mascot. One of the good ol' rally cries is "Gooo Jackets! Sting 'em!"

Oh, ok - gotcha. I admit it - I'm a northerner and not much of a sports fan either. Well "Gooo Jackets" sounds a lot better than that other rally cry someone was quoting the other day for University of South Carolina!

BTW when I was working on one of my masters degrees at USC (as in South Carolina), I bought a bumper sticker at the USC bookstore that said, "YOU CAN'T LICK OUR COCKS." My husband wouldn't let me put it on the car. I can't imagine why! So, yes, I know about nasty rally cries.

Probably the most hilarious mascot I've ever heard of is from some minor league baseball team in San Antonio. The mascot is named Henry the Puffy Taco. I kid you not.

I grew up as a shamrock...now we were tough.A few years ago they changed their name to the Rocks, much tougher now. ;-)

To Hell with Georgia!! I started off at MIT, but it was too far away, too cold, and the people were flippin' weird. I missed the south, and southern boys.

No, I haven't heard of them, but IMO, they still have nothing on the big red Cocks of South Carolina.

No, I think I'll probably be in Seagrove. Not sure yet, because I'm going to THE WHO CONCERT (!!!!!!) on the day before Thanksgiving. I'm pretty pumped about that. We better beat y'all though. That'd be a first.

When I was looking at law schools I went to visit Harvard my senior year in 2004, the people there were weird too. That school is much harder to get into than Georgia Law of course, but much more easier in terms of grading--pass/fail.
