Bus Tragedy Here

Most of you might have heard today, about a high school school bus that plunged over an over pass and fell 30 feet to the ground. 3 students were killed, and several more are in critical condition. There were 43 students and the bus driver aboard the bus. It is a miracle that more lives were not lost. One of the girls that died at the seen has a 3 year old child. Her name is Nicole Ford. Last year the father of her baby shot her in the face, and she survived. Today she was not as lucky. Please keep all of these kids and their families in your prayers. My neice and nephew both graduated from the high where these kids went to school. It is very sad here. Just thought since it hit so close to home for me, that I would send out this plea for thoughts and prayers for these families. God bless them all.

KDW, I heard about it yesterday and thought of you, hoping none of your loved ones were involved.

When I first heard the news I could not help but think you never know when your last day will be. Really tragic when all involved were so young. The story about Nicole is heartbreaking to say the least. Let's all say a prayer for everyone today.

Everyone please be careful out there.

Thank you all for your prayers and kind words. We have a very tight community here and believe me everyone has pulled together for these families. Luckily, no one in my family or any of my friends kids were involved. Let's just continue to pray for these families.

The accident took place in my school district (Lee High School). Several of the kids played at the local recreation park of which I am a board member. I was on the phone most of all day Monday trying to get info on the kids. So far I been able to confirm that several had to have stitches but nothing life threatening. There are 3 kids still listed as critical/serious and I have been unable to get their names. That's my update.

This is such a tragic story, even more so this close to the holidays.:( I just heard an even sadder twist to this story. It appears that another student from the same school may have played a part in the accident; they say the teenage driver of an orange Toyota may have either gotten too close to or possibly even struck the bus, causing it to swerve.

Apparently there was also confusion en the ER...the staff was unable to immediately identify some of the more severely injured students who couldn't speak and carried no ID.

My heart goes out to the families of the victims, as well as the family of the teen driver of the other vehicle. There lives will certainly be changed forever.
