An inch of snow...in Charleston and Savannah!

Up to an inch of snow can be expected in and around Charleston and Savannah this evening. This is awesome and it is very wild for November and especially for points so far to the south. I bet that it will be beautiful to see, wish I was there.

How cool is that? Hope we get some snow here. Not ice which is our usual.

RO, we never get snow either. Every time we get anything, it is freezing rain and sleet. The snow stays north or south of us every time. Anyone in the southern part of the state doesn't seem to get snow. Northwest Tennessee gets snow and North Mississippi gets snow but we get ice or nothing. But where my son and his wife are now living they will get snow. They are in Clarksville, TN which is right at the Kentucky line, north of Nashville by about 30 minutes. I told him when they got snow he needed to get pictures and send them to me.

I'm pretty sure it's the radon bubble over the Nooga that keeps the snow away. :idontno:

Snow storm and awesome are not words which I often use in the same sentence.

Ain't it a b*tch putting on all that stuff? And then you have to throw it all in the dryer when you get back inside!

I can see it now, BB showing up with her pink diamond encrusted shovel.
You would have to build the bonfire gull. :rolling:

Who puts on any stuff? ;-)

This brings to mind the first time mr. dd took me to kansas city. we drove up and about the time we got to northern oklahoma, the snow was blowing sideways, in kansas it was a freakin' blizzard (well, to me it was). But everytime we stopped, we had to put on coats, hats, gloves. Then, when you get in the ladies room, you gotta take all that stuff off, and then put it back on to go back to the car, and then take it off again once you get in the car. That was when I decided I could never live any further north than Dallas.

I will NOT and am NOT missing the NY winters.
Nothing will make me miss that.
Not to mention, it was 90 degrees when I left LA yesterday. Now it's in the 30s in the ham.

Until I spent a few weeks in January with my daughter at MIT, I thought boots, gloves, big down coats, handwarmers, earmuffs, and (don't forget) scarves were just fashion accessories. Heck, in that cold weather they're necessary for survival, not just for waiting for public transportation, but for getting a cab. It was so cold in Cambridge that I gave my daughter extra allowance to take a cab to/from classes. No way I'd want to walk half a mile from the dorm to 77 Mass Ave, and I sure wasn't going to force her to do that. No wonder she was anxious to get back to The South. Heck, for three months I was treated for dermatitis from dry skin after my visit.

My husband is from Madison, WI. He hasn't lived there since he was 17 and left for college. He despises dealing with the cold weather.

Truth is the snow is very nice around Christmas. Nothing like walking around NYC with light snow and big flakes and the sound scrunching under your feet. If you are at home, its beautiful to watch sitting inside with a fire going and a hot drink, or breaking out the sled and going sleigh riding.

It can be tough though for those who have to shovel a car out or drive to work. Depending on how good or bad the winter is (we have had some mild ones) by February though it gets a little tiring and everyone is ready for a warm vacation. That's how I found SoWal. I couldnt get a flight anywhere on a an island because everyone gets the same feeling by then here.
If I lived in SoWal, I would probably have to come back to NY for the holidays and Fall foliage.

True, true! That's why, when I grow up, I'm going to have two homes so I can always enjoy the pros. I want to be warm when everyone else is freezing and I want cool when everyone else is roasting. ;-)

The weather up here in Cleveland for AThanksgiving is supposed to be in the 50's. That is summer temps for this time of the year. I think it is great.
