WoooHooooo! I'm ready! Here is a preview of my article:

Idol Beat ? 2008 American Idol Premiere, Tuesday and Wednesday, January 15th -16th

Get ready everyone, we are about to kick off Season 7 of American Idol! Get your pencil and paper out and start writing down who your favorites are going to be!

Rumor has it that Idol begins in Philadelphia, followed by Dallas. Nigel Lythgoe, one of the producers, said he thought the best singers came from the San Diego auditions. Maybe I?m biased, but I?m sticking with Atlanta as the best audition town especially since my pre-season favorite auditioned there.

Simon, the judge who is most critical, said they don?t show people who just want to get on TV who can?t sing. He said all of the people whose auditions are shown on TV, truly think they can sing.

We have to wade through all the crazies (I know some of you think this is the best part), to get to the real talent. Of the thousands of auditions, approximately 160 make it to Hollywood, which is quickly reduced to 50, then whittled down to the top 24. Some auditions are never shown ? especially if the contestant is really good. American Idol does not want to give away all its secrets!

Here is something to think about until next week:

Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Watch American Idol 2008:

10: The best top 12 they will ever have! (Hmmm, I loved the top 12 of 2007!)

9: Instruments are allowed during Hollywood Week!

8: More Rockers this year!

7: Three 16 and 17 year olds are some of the top vocals!

6: A new exit song ? I don?t know what they will use but I?m hoping for ?When I Fall From Grace? by the Likes of You.

5: Less mentors and guest artists (except for the Clark Brothers, please!), more time with the contestants and their families.

4: Great family entertainment!

3: Simon will say ?Horrible? 30 times; Paula will say ?You look beautiful? 44 times and Randy will say ?It was a little pitchy? 57 times!

2: It will be deja vu for two of the singers! That is all I can say about it!

1: A Star will be born, who will go on to sell more records than any other Idol!

FINALLY, something to watch.
No kidding.
Which reminds me--not too long after the writer's strike started, the St. Louis paper stopped even bothering to include a weekly TV guide in the Sunday paper. I wonder if this is an individual decision, or if the company who publishes the guides has ceased to publish? Anyone?

In the beginning of Idol, it was somewhat funn to see some of these crazies who go on, but now I wait till they have narrowed it down to a top 20. It's too painful to watch some of these people and after Simon ridiculed a mother and her daughter last year in early auditions, I decided I am not watching. I joined Netflix.

I like Chris Watson!

He is beautiful. I was thinking to myself that if he did not make it in this competition somebody ought to snap him up and put his face out there. Truly, he is gorgeous and he can sing.

Do you know that this is the only show other than anything on HGTV that I watch. I am so excited.:wave:

Throw in Amazing Race for me and I'm the same. This first show was so funny and so touching, too. That poor obese girl with the wheelchair mother! I felt for her. But some of the others, well, I laughed as much as the judges. What a hoot some of them were.

Mango, I think you can start watching again. Simon is tons mellower than he's ever been. He really can be sweet.
