Sometimes it's painful when people you disagree with politically are correct on one particular issue. I believe the FCC should have given a bigger fine for Al and Tipper trying to dance to Fleetwood Mac than Janet Jackson's Super Bowl flash! Michael Moore looks like he's been dumpster diving behind every McDonald's he drives by. But they happen to be right about their respective political agendas.

MIAMI — Frustrated with people and politicians who refuse to listen or learn, National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield ends his 34-year government career today in search of a new platform for getting out his unwelcome message: Hurricane Katrina was nothing compared with the big one yet to come.

I would go to the movie JohnR and the BCC meeting but I'm leaving town for work. I'm open to seeing anything(just saw Saddam Swing) but am skeptical about most things I see and read. I take it all with a grain of salt. Mainly I was pointing out many views are believable(cept radical islam) but many should wounder what someone's agenda is attached to the message.
Too many people get their news from John Stewart,O'Reilly, Rosie without seeking other points of view. Too many people *itch about politics yet 30 some percent vote. The Media and Hollywood are not where opinions need to be obtained. People called CBS the first 2 years of Gilligan's Island to help rescue the castaways. True and Sad at the same time but shows how powerful the Media can be.
Moore's Columbine movie was a Joke. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Why doesn't the Media blame the parents of the kids who shot up that High School. Granted bullets are too cheap and anyone with 100 bucks can get a gun but it takes someone to plan and pull the trigger. But it took 2 sets of parents that raised kids without Morals whom committed the crime. The parents where complicent in the crime too in my eye.
Micheal Moore is not a Documentary Film Maker. But he's a good example of what is wrong with the Media and Hollywood today. But their not the only ones to blame. We are also complicent for slurping the $hit off the spoon they feed us with. Peace

Go see the movie. I went and even if Al Gore's syrupy-sweet recollections of the stream behind his family's/Occidental Chemical's Washington DC apartme...sorry,house in Tennessee are silly, the movie is well done. I think Gore has been working on this lecture for many years, and he does a good job with it. You can make your own conclusions at the end
Before Katrina, Max Mayfield called all of the local LA politicians all the way up to the White House and personally told them that this was the real deal. If the politicians had listened what a difference that could have made. I wish Max good luck and hope he finds a forum where people will listen.
What is scarier is that Katrina actually wasn't the real deal! It weakened and turned east just before landfall. Had it continued at pre-landfall power and trajectory, skunkape would probably not be here

BeachSteelers, I agree with a lot of what you said above. But, don't discount the message. If the movie get's people to act positively about reversing what we are doing/have done to the environment, I really don't care who is delivering the message. Travel safe.

"So are you saying the wrong messenger cannot speak the truth? It was the lack of media, as I recall, that had people trying to save Ginger and Mary Ann. When all you've got is two or three channels of TV and AM radio, people don't have a heck of alot to go on, do they? That's precisely how you had half a million troops in Vietnam before anyone realized maybe things were not going well. It is the proliferation of media and it's multitude of opposing viewpoints that make us a more informed and free society. They'll serve us well this week when GW does his LBJ imitation about more troops to Baghdad. God bless Al Gore for his freedom machine....the internet. And Charlton Heston is still my president.
